Default relocating AFM on 3T-GTE in corona

Im thinking of relocating my AMF on my corona as there is very little room to have a airbox. My options was to place the AFM in the center where the rubber seal is before the throtle body. Will thee be any issues doing this?

Wait a second, you mean you want to place the AFM after the Turbo compressor outlet ? I'm not sure the AFM is designed to accurately measure intake airflow under elevated atmospheric pressures and compensate accordingly for the elevated intake temperatures also... without going into some sort of "safe/limp mode" thinking the ambient temp is 50C..

I think you may want to change the title of this thread to "Re-locating AFM from BEFORE Turbo to AFTER Turbo ? (3T-GTE)" to get a broader response from people who have tried this as I'm sure there are some out there who have.

The corona engine bays would be laid out like the celica ones im assuming?

why not piss your battery off into the boot and put the afm and air filter behind the passenger side headlight assembly? And be rid of the ghey intake cross over pipe.

duno dont live in south australia

if the battery is inclosed and secured in a box, then thats legal.

if you still have an afm and an air filter then yeah thats legal too.

I'm quite positive it is. I think it may need to be a sealed battery only... theres a Vehicle modification No: to call in the TransportSA Whitepages listing so you can double check with them.

if you look at my engine bay pics in my ta22 i was able to relocate my battery to the other side of the engine bay near the coils. Its a bit squishy but ultimately works well. The only down side is that if it is not intercooled, you may run slightly higher intake temps because your intake is on the exhaust side of the engine (which toyota obviously avoided doing for a reason)

    Good luck.

Very interesting. Put up a build thread.

If you plan on keeping your standard computer, i'd hazard an educated guess you're going to have to keep the AFM before the turbo. You should have plenty of room in that engine bay, what kind of air filter are you using?

Also battery relocation is legal in SA under a few circumstances, but you would have to check with transport SA

    Hmm, i see your problem.

Maybe get some fancy piping made up.

Or have you considered relocating your battery to the drivers side? Although it's a bit of work, and no legal dramas either. You'd also have to relocate your washer bottle and overflow tank as well. Not too bad a job for some to liberate some space.

    Hmm.

Was thinking of that, but money is an issue right now, my battery is pretty small right now, i reckon if i can get a pipe bentaround 85 degrees, might just clear with the AMF (might) lol, thats 85 degree bend from turbo
