Sounds like the slower burn rate would be more suited to longer stroke, lower revving engines.
I guess that's why gas converted diesel engines have a reputation for extraordinary economy.

Interesting theory.. Hadn't really thought of it that way. Not sure that the slower burn rate affects it THAT much that it'd be better for longer stroke lower revving engines. Just means you wind up the advance a little bit.

heh heh, BBQ attachment would be very cool.. even if you had to run a small dedicated bottle.. it'd still be awesome for dyno day

Myne... Avgas also has a slower burn rate.. and is DESIGNED for large bore, long stroke, low revving motors... planes but people use it so they can up compression, but subsequently need to advance timing more...

as for burning out valves and such, (iirc.. but i may not be) my friend suggested that too many people tune LPG too rich, and that results in high exhaust/valve temps... he on the other hand tunes lean, and has no issues, granted he is only running 1 bar boost in a stock ford 250 but still not a bad effort...

i'll have to venture down to vic and get gaza and Mr Shin together for an ideas day... for my car of course

awesome info abotu the propane availability... thats my biggest concern about going to straight gas... can you always get good fuel would suck to get a tank of butane in the middle of nowhere (but as you say, thats actually less likely ...)

    sweet

true....most ppl think it takes more LPG, wen infact the lambada for LPG is 15.5 to 1 instead of petrols 14.7 to 1......its the fact that most ppls experience or knowledge is carby/mixer based that they make these assumptions wen tuning, hence the rich issues

It does take more LPG because the calorific value of LPG is less than petrol. Therefore it takes more LPG to burn to get the same energy output. Doesn't mean you have to burn out your valves (I hadn't heard this rich=dead valves idea before) just means that you'll use more LPG to go the distance you would with petrol.

thats what i had thought before....then i saw for a liquid EFI LPG system the above figures on air to fuel ratio.....which says otherwise

my query is which is true? or how is it that those figures are correct, and yet the calorific calue is less????

I think octane levels are the answer to your question.
    At a guess.

Yes, BBQ adaptions = fun. Just make SURE you use appropriate fittings etc. - LPG is NOT dangerous provided you treat it with a small amount of respect!

as for injection Gaspower Australia in Newcastle were the first in australia to star playing with it, and have done quite a few performance oriented installs, getting very respectable power gains with the switch from petrol to lpg injection, my uncle owns the company and no i cant get free or cheap installs, im looking at around 5k to get my gtfour done on lpg injection, but thats completely getting rid of the fuel system and running a full lpg tune...none of this duel fuel crap
