we've already given you a rough price on doing the conversion yourself, and if you want to know about how hard it is getting a rwd inlet mani, try find one and you'll know! its not that hard, but some people ask STUPID prices for them, personally i dont think they are worth more than $150 but people are willing to pay that much so maybe they are. you can buy a FWD mani for like $20, and cut'n shut it for under $100.

Dunno where you're getting the manifolds from man, but anyone who's made one and done a decent job of it would be reluctant to let it go (I made my AW11 one, it's many hours of pain) for $150, let alone $20. You can get commiechina spec ones for $400, stainless, but weld a brace into them. They're not the greatest, but look pretty and seem to flow pretty well. Other than that, make your own if you've got a lot of patience. If you've got an AFM GZE, you won't need to change much. NA intake manifold (if you don't have it already), manifold, dump pipe, and cooler plumbing. Also need an oil return to the sump and oil/water lines for turbo. After that get a fuel/air controller and give it a tune (unless you can afford the far better option of aftermarket managment), and you're laughing. I think that's everything...

Yeah, same, just gotta get a turbo and the time to fit it Got any pics of yours, I'd like to see how a couple of things have been done. My manifold will end up with the turbo closeish to the firewall, was thinking of redesigning to bring it closer to the block, is there a problem with heat doing this?

Ive got a big budget conversion on my car right now... This one in the box is up for grabs.... You want to get it atleast an inch or more away from the firewall. My new setup sits atleast 2-3 inches from the firewall. Get a remount mount oil filter kit.

yeah, that was all on the cards anyways. What kind of setup and power are you making? If you could email me some pics of your cheapo setup to [email protected], that'd be awesome.

    Cheers, RM.

garret gt2540 400hp turbo, big water to air garret core intercooler, Fully rebuilt motor, forged acl race pistons, toda head gear (cams, valves, cam gears etc). It was making 165rwkw with a 2.5inch exhaust on a stock 130k motor on 18psi (major exhaust restriction) So with the new motor and a nice 3 inch exhaust it should pump out well over 200rwkw on 22psi.

    Good stuff guys!!!!!!
its wicked seeing blokes make good numbers out of these little suckers!

165rwkw on 18 psi is a top effort! my old setup made153rwkw on 19 psi but i had std cams ( Still do!!)

It would of made ALOT more if the exhaust wasnt so restricted. The dodgy fuckers who did the temporary dump pipe (i was always going 3 inch) Looked press bent so was probably 2 inches in place. The power plateau'd majorly at 5500rpm. With the 3inch i was expect around 180rwkw or more at the same boost. Standard cams too.

I expect alot more power with my new engine with BIG toda cams.

mullet, i wasnt refering to an exhaust manifold, i was refering to the inlet manifold in regards to getting one for around $20 and modding it for $80. this is from my own experience.

ghetto, with all that hardware i think you should easily push 200RWKW. i have an almost standard ze engine, i made 174RWKW with a stuffed wastegate actuator. it made peak power at 6000rpm with 19psi and dropped boost till redline. judging by the boost curve i would have made about 200. so i think you should easily make your target

Yeah, it should push over 220rwkw no problems. Just waiting around for parts to come in bites ballsack!

Yeah when i made the 153 that was with a 2.5 inch exhaust. Going to a 3 inch system made heaps of difference esp down low and the turbo response was alot better due to less back pressure.

my new set up i actually use a 3.5 inch dump pipe and mate it to the 3 inch system under the car.

    Any pics Ghetto.

i was talking rwhp. And i said that its the maximum you can get with an sc12, not that you cant get there. the sc12 is past its efficiency at that point and just generates more heat than power, so you cant physically get much more than that by increasing boost. (by changing cooling/cams/intake etc etc you could get a little more probably) i was just saying that if you want more than 150rwkw, you cant do it with an sc12

Oh and lets see some of these ghetto turbo setups people! PICS PICS!

Someone (can't remember who) made their turbo piping out of PVC to save money. If that's not ghetto, I have no idea what is.
