Default How to connect Apexi RSM to W58 gearbox sensor

I am currently using 3SGTE ST185 engine and mated to the W58 gearbox. I am using the Haltech E6X.

My problem is that my speedometer is not digital speedometer, it is manual type. So I am trying to connect the Gearbox sensor to the Apexi RSM. But it would not connect. I do not understand what seems to be the problems.

Can anybody out there please help me solve this problem ?? I need to have rpm and kilometer readings. Kindly advice, thank you very much.

Please explain in an easy form of English as I'm Indonesia and my english is not too good.

you can use a screw-on digital sender from an MX83, the digital sender simply screws onto the existing W58 mechanical drive, then you have 3 wires: 12V signal and Ground. Connect up the 12V and ground to appropriate sources and connect the signal to the RSM.

Depending on what car you've got the setup in, your cable dash might have a 4 pulse per revolution output from a reed switch in the speedo assembly. If that's the case then you can connect this to the RSM.

Sorry but I would like to ask help from you again. I have succeeded connecting the digital sender of the W58 to the Apexi RSM. But the problem is that my speedo and the kilometer on my dashboard are not working yet.

I am just worry that I might not be able to know how many km has my engine done nor if I need to change the engine oil, from where I can know that's it's time to change.

    Kindly reply. Thanks.

so your W58 has a mechanical speedo and you fitted an electronic sender unit in its place.

what car is this in? if the car has a mechanical speedo input then you can't use it because you replaced the sender with an electronic one

off topic but by the way what bellhousing and/or adaptor plate are you using to mate a 3S with a W58?

    David,

    We need some more information.

What car is this going into?
Does the car in original format run a speedo cable, or an electronic sender? (please don't get mixed up between digital and electronic).
Is the W58 currently fitted with a speedo cable or electronic sender?
If it runs electronic sender is it screwed onto the speedo cog, or does it bolt onto the side of the box?

Sorry but you have misunderstood me. My gearbox, which is the W58 has the digital sender. But the speedo and the kilometer gauge in my car are all mechanicals. So the gauges in my car are not able to be connected to my gearbox electrical sender.

Do you catch me so far ? Hope my explanation is clear this time. Sorry for my poor english.

Sorry didn't read yr last part. I am using the original bellhousing of the stock gearbox, which G58 Gearbox. Of course, minor works to be done, just changing the starter position. Also made about 1.8 mm of adaptor cos of different position of the holes.

Can you get a photo of the sender on the gearbox?

This car is running with SPEEDO CABLE. The W58 currently fitted with the ELECTRICAL SENDER. About the position of the sender to be frank, i'm not sure. Got to ask my technician first.

Sorry but the electronic sender is already being installed back to the gearbox. I have to use my car too as it's been lying in the garage for too long.

Btw there's something else which i would like t o ask you. Please refer to the attachment pic ? Could you tell me what's the name of that part ? Mine is not working and I need to buy new one.

Could you receive the attachment pic ?? Kindly reply. Thanks

You are going to have one of these installed on the gearbox.

If its the one in the far bottom left, you can replace it wih the other one.
If its the other one, you can unscrew the electronic sensor (as seen in the top right) and screw your speedo cable back on. You can then use the output from the dash to drive the Apexi RSM as JP detailed in his first post.

Mine is exactly the same as the one on the bottom left hand side. The most bottom one.

Do you think is there any adaptor which can connect this electronic sender to manual gauges. Kindluy reply. Thanks.
