check idle control valve could be stuck shut, check tps etc
what side did the windscreen leak could of leaked onto the ecu or junction box
Hi all, i have recently obtained myself a camry and it has been a smooth runner up until a couple of days ago. I was parked outside when the storms hit last week so it was exposed to a fair bit of rain and some water got through the windscreen and i went to take it for a drive on the weekend and it didnt want to go for very long.
Problem is it will start fine and runs smoothly for no more than 10 seconds and then just die. Once its stopped it its a bit harder to start again but the same problem keeps occuring. Also it will completely hesitate to rev, everytime i touch the accelerator it dies immediately.
Ive checked to see if the fuel pump is going - its fine
Checked random wires in the engine bay are still fully connected/dirty or broken
Checked air box incase of water or anything like that.
So i am completely stumped to why this is happeningany suggestions ???

my celica did this after the conversion (to a 3sfe) and we fiddled with the map sensor (i think it is) under the inlet manifold and it was fine after that so it could be thatthe o2 sensor also had some issue with a rusty connector also so look at that also but i could be wrong

Lol. If your on the home page of the forum this thread comes up saying SV21 camry - runs for 10 secs...
I was like, a 10 sec camry? I gotta see this!
Then I got let down...
But, It'd either be fuel or spark obviously, by the sound of it, it is an EFI. So if the fuel pump is working and it was fine up until this point, I'd be leaning more towards a spark side of things.

My money is on a LOT of water in the distributor cap...Clean it out and dry it out.
ha ha yeah sorry for the let down guys, it would be funny as fuck if it did run those sort's of times

building my 4agte ae82
well the problem seems to be fixed now, cleaned the pionts on the dizzy cap and rotor, pulled the plugs off and on to check if they were loose, put a fresh 20l drum of 98 octane in, hit the engine with a hammer a few times (old school) and its now running as good as it used to. Still dont know what the problem was but meh, it runs!
Thanks for all the help guy's much appreciated
