Default i think i have a problem... possible solutions?

We've has a lot of rain up here in the last week and the water level kind of snuck up on us, i did the best i could to get the car out but the roads around the house were cut off so i pushed it up on ramps winched it up to the ceiling and shoved some 20l drums underneith the wheels. Turns out it wasnt enough.
The car is going off to be stripped and have the sills, lower right QP and the entire left QP replaced in a month and a hlaf but is there anything i could do once the water drops off?
I pulled the bungs out o the floor and blocked off all the fuel lines to try and keep water out of the tank but at this stage i just dont know. There are no seats, wiring loom is out accept for the dash loom so theres not a alot there.

Any ideas, hints anyone have this happen before?

My advice is just get it dry and clean as soon as possible. If that's dirty water you will get sediment deposited in all the bits you can't see. Dirt traps mousture and rust starts. Let it dry and then use an air gun to blow out sills etc as best you can.

Yeah thats what i was thinking, i was going to go through it with a garden hose and try clean some of the sediment and vegitation out first then leave it in the sun for a few days.
Im glad it happend before the body work was done though.

if that was mine i'd be soooooo angry.

spose it'd be worse if the eng was in freshly rebuilt and now water logged.

hope all goes well for you.

Thats a pretty shit spot to be in, really sad to see mate.

As everyone else will probably say (and has said), just dry it out, blow all the shit out of it, and then wait and see. I doubt this water has done anything that a 30year old car didn't have already, and since your sills are being removed anything that is already hiding in there will be found.

So i'll hose it out with clean water and blow it out with the compressor. I was also thinking of fish oiling it after it dries out and change the diff oil. dont think there's alo more i can do

The engines just been put back together, you can almost see te block and tacke its hanging from nea the roof of the car. The water looks like its stopped coming up so it should be fine has about 8 bags and alot of ducktape on it.

Since you're hosing it wouldn't hurt to use some car wash or even some dish washing liquid inside and out to clean it out. Then compressed air to blow it all out and days out in the sun.

Would be good if you could flip it upside down on a rotisserie and let it drain out good. Fish-oil sounds like a good idea but it will be those hard to reach/see places that may give trouble.

    Good luck with it all.

I'd be washing it with fresh water, leaving in a dry/warm area to cool (if you get a bit of sunlight, get it out there) and then sitting some of those dehumidifying packs in it.

Ok im back out at the house now and there's no oil anywhere on the car so thats a good start, i cant get the car out yet but i've been through it with truck wash and alot of water and all is good. i'll be draining the diff and lightly fish oiling the body so it wont get any worse before it goes to be fixed properly.
Underneith the car is cleaner than before i started and the dash didn't get wet so im happy.

Sounds good.. maybe a good excuse to do some undercarriage detailing

Might be a good idea to check the wheel bearings too, give it a clean out and repack.

This is a good idea. Being a spindle/floating hub this will be a piece of cake too.
