We have the Sidchrome and Ripco (Repco for those not in the know ) ones at work and they are used almost daily (seriously).

Both are quality items, surprisingly the Ripco ones are really good.
Have had them for years, so don't know if you can still get them, but I'd say would be a cheaper option if they are still for sale.

    EDIT:
As for thread restorers, we also have a full set of Sutton. Don't use them that often, but super handy. Super expensive too, but you want a thread to be accurate

Anyone got an oppinon on TengTools?

Bought a full kit with my Tool voucher about 18months ago. Had never heard of them prior but have a mate that reckons they're pretty good.

My Repco spanners and sockets have been excellent. Not using them every day, but certainly worth the money. Much better than Kincrome IMHO.

I have heard good things about Teng Tools too.

W L Ryans in Melbourne used to sell Teng tools. I can't believe they would ever had stocked any rubbish. I have a very nice torque wrench of theirs. The sort of thing you always treat that bit more reverentially than the average ratchet, but nonetheless has been easy to use and trouble free.

I just have a cheap Supatool kit, does fine for the times I need it. If it doesn't I'll nick stuff off my dad.

I got one of those torque wrenches with the kit i got. Micrometer style adjustment. Never had a problem with it either. General Tools here in Adelaide have a pretty big selection of Teng's.

I'm not sure about some of the tools mentioned, but my flare spanner kit I bought something like 12 years ago. It is a no name brand & cost me around $12. They are quite thick (ie alone the nut) & I think this is the secret to finding good ones. Ignore the Supercheap type ones as the smaller ones (usually for brake/clutch lines) will stretch.

I also have several Kinchrone sockets which I rate as well. I just wish they were cheaper now as they seem to have gone up a lot in price relatively over the last 10 years also.

Got a set of Flare nut spanners i got when the place i did work experience at offered me $40 worth of tools. (now apprentice there)

I cant remember the brand but havent had any issuses with them so far.

Also got a set of KC-PRO-AM auto wire strippers. Cant recommend these highly enough for the DIY thru Pro. makes wiring so much easier.
