    Default 15x8 up front? ae86

just wondering if anyone is running any 15x8 rims up front on there 86? im looking at a set with a +3 offset, and thinking i'll have to flare the guards a little and run some fair camber.

also, can you still get decent tyres in this size? (like semi's, or real good radials) what size would i be looking for 225/50/15?

    ok.
on my ke70 i have 15*7 on the front and 15*8 on the rear
front tyres (toyo t1r, the closest thing to race tyres alowed on the street) for the front in 205/50r15 cost 160 each
for the rear they are closer to 300 because by law, you are not legally permitted to run anything narrower than a 225 on an 8" rim.
theres not alot of tyres in 225/50r15 and what there is costs a bucket

Yeah, im pretty sure that Steve-AE86 has or had a set of 15x8s on the front of his KE70. I think they just needed to be vaguely massaged into place.

i put some ma61 rims on my sprinter, but before i put 185/60/14s on them, i went for a drive down the street with the 225s on it. it rubbed the bumpers on full lock, some of the chassis rail i think just beside the firewall, and maybe the front part of the chassis rail.

i didn't even drive it hard because of the major rubbing going on, you are looking at a fair bit of hammer work. AND this car was at stock height

    goodluck with ya 8s

    trust me it's worth it
offset will play a big roll, and since i'll be getting fiberglass guards (wider) i think it'll be ok.
with the rebuild im doing on the sprinter, it's more like buy what i want for it, then make it fit, rather than downgrading on something because it's easier.

should all work out nicely i think

are you getting custom fibreglass flares? cause i have a killer idea for a AE86 widebody kit that i think would look pretty good (better than those aweful TRD flares at least)

that size will fit will rolling only flairing will not be required.

on use FRP guards though... not such a good idea. theyre alot more fragile than steel to if you do end up getting some rubbing theyre likely to get pretty damaged pretty quick.

I've got 2 AE86s, one with 15x7s all round, and one with 17x8s. They'll JUST go in there if you get the offset spot on.

I'm running 15x7.5 with a -7 offset, and they only just fit in the guards. But I had to hammer all of the joins inside the wheelarch flat and fold in the tab inside the guard. Its all really easy and has no noticable effect from the outside.
(although now I have fitted offset RCA's i've had to flare them slightly)

I use 195/50's and they sit nicely over the rim, and on an 8" rim they would squeeze on I think, but you'd have to watch those gutters!

Maximum size with rolled arches front and rear on an AE86 is 14x9 -19 with a 195-60-14 STRETCHED on that I've seen personally with no rubbing issues. I'll bet a 15x9 -19 with 195-50-15 would work as well, just gotta find a tire shop willing to do the stretch
