Thanks for the MS65 hubs Chuck, I am now back on the road to getting my 5 stud conversion sorted

I did find someone today who can make up billet hubs in any stud pattern. All he needs is a sample of the hub and he'll replicate it and make it whatever stud pattern you want.

He is a back yard operator who lives bout 5 minutes from me. His back yard workshop housed steel bellhousings he makes from scratch for all Pac Performance cars and customers, custom brake setups, and a heap of other custom bits and pieces.

I'm going to take him some MX73 hubs and get a price on some billets in 5x114.3?
May help others in the future looking for MS65 hubs?

affordable billet hubs would certainly sort out the crazy price ms65 hubs fetch.

Yeah MS65 hubs are crazy, think I paid $100-120 for the last set I bought.

    thank god for that!!
while ever we dont pay too much for them the precedent wont move too much.
but it would be nice to have an alternative hub or billet repro to use once the MS65 hubs cease to pop up on the market

Would be interested in prices for getting billet hubs that take the same bearings as MS65/RA28/RT132 etc, are 5x114.3, and have a centre hole of something like 71.5 (BA Falcon) or 68 (skyline) to eliminate the need for machining / spacing of rotors.

If someone wants to do a poll or find out what the best specs would be to make them suitable for the majority, then I'd be happy to ask the backyarder what the going rate would be

i think there was a thread about custom hubs many moons ago - either Ross Hopper or an eBay store that sells brake upgrade kits with a workshop based in Melbourne were able to do billet hubs with custom offset and PCD - but the price was still above what the rare-as-rocking-horse-shit MS65 hubs sell for.

fwiw: most trailer hubs are cast iron and then various bearing-receiving faces machined into the lump.

What size discs are you planning on using on the celica Jack? as ive found tapered bearings + big rotors + high G's = knock off.

not a fun experience when barrelling down a straight only to find your brake pedal near the floor.

    cheers

    Hi mate
Running BA/R33 setup, so should be ok considering the amount of Cressy's out there that have used the setup. No issues that I have heard of.
What would be the alternative? Using a linear spindle like a AU Falcon hub?

If your talking MX83's then no they wont have a problem, they run a cartridge style bearing like most late model cars and these don't allow for much runout or knock off.

Earlier mx73's however would likely run into minor knock off problems if put on a track with some semi slicks.

Im currently getting a set of MX83 stubs modified to bring the strut inclination angle back to 9.5* to match the XT130 struts, ill let you know how it goes and wether its worth the effort.

    Cheers
