Default 2.0 carbie / throttle sticking

How do you stop a carbie from sticking? What would be a probable cause???

    the CAR
my sisters 1987 Camry sedan 2.0 think aston on rocket cover a once EFI but converted to Carbie motor. Don't ask butchered by previous engine change. been owned for 5 years.

    the Problem
After a long drive say 20-30 min throttle sticks and engine no longer idles.
Is hard to drive a car that does not want to remain stopped at lights as it is an auto.

what happened the 1st time problem arises?
3 weeks ago the first time it did it.
My sis noticed the camry was revving very high. Then the car did not turn off, even with key out of ignition.

by luck at uni close to the now parked car RACV dude ran over stopped it by chocking up the carbie with jumper. It had gotten so hot that it was firing it self and nearly blew up!

I saw the car an hour after it was still too hot to touch like fresh boiled water.
Car has been to two mechanics and my dad and bro cant find anything obvious.
A mechanic replaced the electronic choke and said that was the problem.
    Since been replaced again!!

throttle continues to still sticking and the longer you drive it the higher the rev's get.
    anyone seen this problem before???

throttle spring not working to return the throttle to normal position?

    vacuum line?

i think the carbie needs to be tuned properly..
Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child

Yer my bro has fixed it since at uni now three times.

1st checking all the vacuum hoses and all the shit that is connected to it.
(apparently there are so many hoses attached to the carbies on these it is ridiculous)

2nd double checking it and again reset so it idles again.

3rd last week he put a stronger spring on the throttle pull back to help it.

I am looking for any one that would know of a reason why it is sticking and progressively opens up more and more till idle becomes a revving engine.

    1. sticking throttle linkage - just check to make sure the mechanical joints are not gunged up with crap, keeping them in a similar position may cause them to stay in that position.

    2. iCV (idle controll valve) you have two of these, one for cold start, one for when the car is already hot, its possible this is why it only happens when its warm...unfortunately this isnt that easy to test....do some research but im guessing this is your best bet since the system is vaccum operated.

3...if it gets expensive, remember that its a 25 yo camry...
Rotaries are cool...so why are their owners such cocks>>?

Cheers for the feed back will take a look at it see if the outside or the carbie could do with some TLC with some carbie cleaner or degreaser or maybe even some grease on there to free everything up!

Yer I know what you mean about cost and the age of it now.
Big cost = bye bye to camry
    but on the flipside
new car = big cost,,,, stupid cars are great when they're working and S*## when they're not
