They are well aware of this, but from what I'm told you can't just change constutions on the run.
There needs to be meetings to discuss the proposed changes, and meetings to implement it. And I believe one of those meetings needs to be the AGM, which obviously only happens once a year.

    Hi,

There are conditions where it can be called early.. I think. But I'd have to go through it to see what those reasons are.. and we'd need all the electronic forms in place ready to roll beforehand.

Finally, if such an AGM was to be held I'd like to think we'd get a few more than half a dozen people turning up.

Also the last time we called a EGM, to modify for historics, By the letter of the rules there was 2 mins. left by the time enough people turned up to actually conduct the meeting.

seems like a pretty dumb set of rules

noone here is a full time politician, we're just a bunch of car guys who break stuff. who honestly gives a crap about the ins and outs of some constitution if all it does is make things a PITA to get things moving? sounds like noone enjoys the job

the implications of the clubs infrastructure sounds like it was written by the strata group in my apt complex... what a bunch of weekend warrior rent-a-cop wankers they are. we're/youre/the club isnt like that, so whats the dealio?

it's standard for an Incorporated entity actually.

You must reach quorum within a given time of the meeting's advertised starting time to be able to vote on any propesed business (I think quorum for toymods was 15 members?). For constitutional changes (as these would require) it's more strict.

Kind of makes you wonder why the people that are so quick to point out inadequacies don't actually care enough to front up to important meetings like this and participate in how the club runs. If there was going to be a vote held at a club meeting to alter the constitution to allow for a digital membership process, would there be the same "real world" level of attendance as there has been discussion within this thread?

ps. I realise there could be a little bit of pot "calling a kettle something" going on here as I haven't been to many club meetings for a while either, but I'm also not doing the complaining
    Cheers,
    Paul.

I've been a member for a good few years now and have always been hesitant to run for a board position due to me being a shift worker and having to miss a lot of monthly meetings. Having said that I wouldn't hesitate to offer help in some way. I'm on the computer a lot and I mean a lot, even at work all's I do is read the forums. So if i can be of service in any capacity or if I nominate for a ordinary position next year and the absences from meetings isn't too much of a bother, then just let me know.

    Cheers, Greg.

I dont have time to read the whole thread but ive been around toymods for a little while and i love it, its the biggest and most informative toyota forum i've ever seen, and i owe it alot, unfortunatly one of the rules of my car club is that you cant be a financial member of any other car clubs otherwise i would LOVE to have a tassie chapter of toymods running under the toymods name.

Take some time to check out the photos from the tassie toyota cruise and you will see !

So in short If there is anything i can do the help the ppl that keep toymods going I'm keen to give back whatever i can

If the six people who are currently trying to run the Club and Forums didn't volunteer their time, like they do, there would be no Club and no forums.

The AGM proved how little people really cared about the Club, by their lack of attendance. No one wanted to join the Board. No one wants to turn up to meetings. Yet, there is no shortage of posted criticisms about how things are being done... or not done.

Because it's so easy to criticise, but not quite so easy to be constructive river.

This is a great resource, and worth the membership to support.

I understand the frustration of the people volunteering, and hope they don't all just pull the pin. And I don't want to add to the pressure they're already under. I do have a couple of points though:

    - Although a NSW club, you have paid interstate members, who will not be able to attend meetings, so there needs to be consideration given to providing them with something for their money (otherwise call it a donation). To them, the online resources, and perhaps the member packs, are what motivates them.
    - For those that do the right thing and contribute by paying membership, no matter what their motivation, member access to the online forum shouldn't take months. If it is, someone has to take constructive critism and realise there is a problem that needs a solution.
    - Member packs? Well, maybe people need to understand they take time to send, and that probably has been made clear. I guess a suggestion could be that if they're causing too much grief to actually provide, etc. maybe whether they continue or in what form needs to be reviewed?

Personally, I wouldn't have entered a comment in here that involved critising the people who work hard to provide this. But I wasn't so impressed with the reaction of some to someone voicing a concern, to the effect of "get over it, you'll get it when you get it" and all manner of defensive/reactive responses. Maybe the guy's a bit impatient, but perhaps less defensive knee-jerk reactions, and recognising there could be an issue or two that needs consideration to resolve in the future.

Once you take money for something, they are effectively a customer, and if you're not providing what they pay for, you've got to expect complaints sooner or later and need to decide how you'll deal with them. Of course, there is always the option to tell them to get lost, with the associated consequences.

    Cheers, Greg.
I'm in a very similar situation but its more due to location, by the time I get home after leaving North Sydney at 6pm its nigh on impossible to then drive to the hills and make the meetings.

I had to organise to leave early just to attend the EGM for the historic rego last year & would try to do the same for any other meeting regarding ammending the consitution for the better of the club.

The only services I am capable of offering is potentially moderating the Classifieds section of the forum although I assume one has to be a board member to be a mod.
    If in doubt power out
