ECU arrived yesterday.
Sorted the gearbox this morning.
Just picked up my PWR water-to-air Barrell cooler.

Might move the engine mount thing out of the Dina thread (its not really Caldina related)
Have you got a pic of the eingine in the bay with the Dina mount & the Corolla mount both fitted? If there is a decent gap between them, you should be able to make up a bracket that bolts in between both. No way you've going to be able to use the Dina upper part.
i don't know what combo fits that cross member.. but i would just make a sheet metal one and a new pickup... i don't think you would have to go to that extreme.. surely there is somthing like a 2S sump and pick up you might get away with.. ??Originally Posted by mikealike
Install for my PWR water-to-air intercooler setup looks stock as, absolutely rapt.
Although I don't have aircon, I was able to retain the complete factory bonnet catch setup and didn't have to do any cutting at all... looks good eh?

Is this a before pic, or after?![]()

That's an 'after' pic, I assure you it's in there! This pic shows you a LITTLE better, you can just see the blue cap on the water outlet, and the small bit of alloy showing at the top. Once I remove the cap and plumb it in, you won't be able to see that, and I'm probably going to paint it black as well so it'll be literally invisible.

How much gap have you got between the rad & the intercooler rad?
It's never a good idea to have them too close as it wrecks the air flow.
Is the fan on the front necessary? I don't know of any factory systems that have one.
Overkill never hurt though.
How are you going to sit the barrel part? I've been looking at water-air options for my car, but I hate the look of the cam covers without the intercooler sitting there. It's like it's missing something![]()
I can't imagine there's a problem with having them too close - look at the way the aircon condenser and radiator are stacked together in prettymuch any modern car. That said, I've got about 5-10mm which should be heaps.
The barrell will likely sit on top of the gearbox and I'll work out a way to plumb it as neatly as possible. I think they look ridiculous, so I'll have to look at whether hiding it somewhere or making up a shield will be an option.
Agree that 3SGTEs look bare with the top-mounted intercoolers removed, as you've just looking at the side of the block/head/cam cover rather than 'normal' engines where nice looking cam covers dominate your engine bay.
The heat exchanger comes shipped with the front-mounted fan from PWR. The system is rated to "650hp+" and I won't ever be anywhere near that so I'm sure it will be more than sufficient for my needs.

sweet project mate, i'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
Should get a mod to move it to the "conversions" sub forum![]()
mate i have seen a few 3SGTE powered Corollas but they all had all wheel drive...............except one.
Obviously the power to weight is going to be staggering and so most likely will be the handling![]()
Good on you for getting stuck in and just doing it !
As for the gear boxes i have an E58 in my AWll connected to an AE101 GZE. While i was having dramas with a speedo cable issue i came across a write up on how to repair an E153 (suppodely) in an MR2 turbo early 90s model.
now in supercharged AW11s they come with the 4AGZE with the E51, but you can change them to E58 without too much drama, mainly shafts and likage sides incorrect, otherwise they bolt onto the 4A ok.
i am 90 % sure the box you want is the E153 speak to some of the AW11 guys that have whacked in a 3SGTE, Joshtix and Justinmc are a couple on here that sping to mind, otherwise look on twobrutal in the UK heaps of 3SGTE equiped AW11s on there, pretty much what ever you would do in converting an AW11 you would need to do in an AE82.
oh i presume you will want one with an LSD right![]()

AW11s always welcome in my driveway !
The MR2 LSD boxes seem to be ridiculously priced, I've seen them for as much as $1500 with no driveshafts which is a bit of a joke if you ask me. I'd rather buy a Camry box for a few hundred bucks and then put an aftermarket LSD in it later, knowing that it won't cost me any more and that a Camry box won't have been caned and the LSD will be brand new.
