Yeah I'll have a bit of a hunt around when I'm closer to buying. I sold my engine but it's not going for another 4-5 weeks so I'm not going to buy anything for a while.

Hey mate, i picked up an ae82 fitted with a AE101 GZE, superstrut brakes, lsd box (had to beat the chassis rail im told) The thing went ape shit, all for $3,000! I can honestly say, that car was more enjoyable than the S13 i drive now, which had ALOT of cash thrown at it. The AE82 also came with a front mount, but top mount gave more response, definately get the GZE, you wont look back! My friend had a S/T in his AE71, off the mark i could kill him, but if it was a rolling start, i would pull away, but not as hard as you'd think!

was the end of the gearbox cast aluminium or pressed steel? mine was pressed steel and fit fine..no bashing was needed but i made my own cross member up as the stock one doesnt fit with the e58. at the time i was converting there were no pics of what needed to be done to use the stock ae82 cross member. only i was told i needed to drop the rear bt 2 inches. when i tested it out on the hoist at work it sat so low, so thats why i made my own.

superstrut AKA old creaky, when the arms get wear you get the creaks just been thru replacement of some of the arms on my AE111, arms can get expensive! especially the front lower control arm.

But having said that, a superstrut in good condition handles exceptionally well for a fwd

early ST20v's have a different set of gears in the C56, compared to later st's and bt 5 speed.

Route 6 did make a 4th gear to suit early C56's, from memory it was around 1.015

as stated c56 with 04c is helical lsd

on left is AE101 ST rod, on right Crower rod I used in my turbo engine

It's not a different set of gears, it's the C52 gearbox, exact same ratios as 16v 4AGEs and 7AFEs from AE82 to AE112.

rom what i've been told and come across information wise the early model s/t came with the C52 and the later came with the C56. Easiest way to tell them apart is the throttle linkage, early model had dual linkage and the later had single.

as for superstruts - i wouldn't say that they are completely necessary if you've got the silvertop. just get the later model AE92 brakes of the gti/series 2 sx which was also used on the AE101's. they are a larger single piston that I was happy with on mine. Just get some good rotors, pads and fluid and you shouldn't have any issues.

I have had an early and late st box apart AND THEY ARE different ratios(took apart to get LSD's out of em)

Also ALL the toyota info I have also states two sets of ratio's, early st 20v is like all previous 4age's etc, late st and bt run same ratios! which are as I have previously posted! FUCK!

yeh the C52 and the C56 have different Ratios...

early c52 came in the eary 20v ST with dual Throttle Linkages, and then the later 20v st came with a c56 and single linkages..

IRC it was only 3rd gear that was slightly shorter in the c56

4th is shorter as well, but same 5th and final drive.
