EP71 Starlet wheel, very similar style to an AE82 Twincam one although the centre looks more padded (AE82 is basically just hard plastic)

Got that photo from an ad on eBay, which also stated 380mm (I'm guessing rim to rim, not centre-centre, so that'd be about the same as my 101 one)

wow! thats not overly small if you consider that it's 15"... will def. have to take measurements of the stock steering wheel now to see if theres any differance in size at all :S

i guess what we should find out is if QT, RTA etc... count the overall dia. or the center to center as being 330mm...

Centre-to-centre is the dimension that should be the important one, after-all that's the length of the lever-arm. Outside diameter depends on how chunky the steering wheel is, but that has nothing to do with steering effort (apart from physically being able to grip the wheel)

but in a techincal sence, if its 330 dia over all, this would allow you to get away with a much smaller wheels BUT.... i dont see that happening with a stock wheel anyway

edit - just measured my current wheel... 320mm centers

Just get two quick-release hubs from Justjap and fit your choice of wheel to one and a factory unit to the other. When pulled over by the plod, change the wheels overs?

that wont work 1) because they require the 6hole boss kit pattern which factory wheels done have, 2) gets pulled over "just a sec officer have to change wheels" me dont think so lol.

and quick release are prob illegal as well?

lol... its a strange thought but i'd actually had been thinking about that this after noon...

that very first wheel i posted almost looks like its a factory wheel with a bosskit attached?

so it would be amazing if it was a 6 bolt pattern on the inside of the wheel... use that as a daily then when i go out to slide swap over to something like a dished wheel or small dia. wheel...

its not at all totally stupid idea... prob just not possible unless i can find a padded centered steering wheel with 6 bolt.

Looked through the shed but no luck on finding the TA63 wheel, have vague recollections of giving it away maybe.

could always get a workshop to drill you 6 holes in a stock wheel so you could bolt to a boss kit. Noone would be none the wiser when you put the center piece back on

AW11 series 1 wheel looks just like the AE82 wheels, same dimensions and everything, except the AW11 wheel doesnt have orange stitching.

AE82 Twincam wheel is 355mm centre to centre, but about 380mm outside, so it appears my eyes were deceived. Still, feels and looks good.

The AE82 wheels look exactly like that from behind, it's not a bosskit it is an integral part of the wheel, but obviously designed to look like one for the "sporty" angle.

Why don't you just ask Queensland transport about the rules. I'd be surprised if in all the training the Police have to undergo that there would be a section on steering wheels and wood rimmed ones at that.

regardless of it they have or not majority of them are so arrogant that they would take no notice even if you had a letter stating that it was fine.

if you spoke back to them they may just go looking for soemthing else to pick on.

yeah John not a bad idea about perhaps taking it to a machine shop, having 6 holes done correctly so the wheel is properly centred etc.
