    Default 4age Temp. Sensor

    Hey,

    Just a quick question.
Are most 4age temp. sensors the same?
For example, could i use a small port one on a 20v motor?

    Thanks for any help!

It depends if you are talking about gauge temperature, or EFI water temperature, or other water temp sensor for the thermo fans or whatever.

The one for the temp gauge is just a single wire type. They are generaly all the same and interchangable. But there to too sizes, big threads and small tapered thread.

For the EFI temp sensor, I believe they would all work and be interchangable, except the plugs are different. The early 4A-GE (bigport) sensor has a square plug. The smallport 4A-GE uses a different Toyotaish plug. The 20valve one is a different part number, but I think it is basicaly the same as the smallport one. Maybe the plug is different again, but the threads are the same.

    Hey,

The problem with the car is that for some random reason it goes into 'limp' mode with check engine light coming on every now and then.
When my brother did a diagnostics test, and it came up with map sensor and water temp. sensor issues.
Ive replaced the map sensor but it still does the same thing (idles at 2500rpm and just about stalls when under load)
So i guess it has the be the water temp sensor that sends information to the ecu?
    (near the thermostat housing?)
I could be wrong but yeh.

    Any help greatly appreciated
