I have a MV Automatics Stage 1.5 shift kit. It shifts nice and firmly, but not hard enough to chirp on gear changes.
Does anyone have any information on shiftkitting an A340E out of a JZS147 Aristo?
I recall Dennis did it in the same fashion as 1JZ that is shown on supraforums if I recall correctly... but I think he also mentioned issues with it not working that well due to the line pressure being controlled by the ECU??
I don't want to turn the gearbox into something that chirps gears on every gearchange, but I would like something that shifts a little bit quicker.
It's still a daily driver.
MV do an exchange valve body I beleive, but not sure if they do a parts and instruction set (Not sure if MV has some cores in stock...)? Has anyone bought an MV exchange valve body? Experiences?
When I get a chance I'll put up a graph that shows gear shift timing currently.
Cheers

Have you considered just shimming the acumulators ? (I think this is the right terminology).

Indeed I have, but I'll be honest I don't currently know enough about auto's to know if this will give me a good result.Originally Posted by CrUZida

I bought a MV automatics stage 1 shift kit for the a340e in my mx83. It came with fitting instruction and Michael was extremely helpful over the phone. I could not speak more highly of MV automatics and I would happily recommend them to anyone.Originally Posted by wilbo666
It is so rare to find someone in the automive industry that is knowledgeable, competent, helpful and reasonably priced.
i got a stage 1 shift kit for my aristo 2jz conversion, and it shifts really hard almost under any load.
my brother got a 1.5 with his 1jz mx73 and that seems a lot better than mine ie smoother under low load and chirps under high load.
i have taken it back because it cause a few problems ie: my car being impounded for 48 hours under the hoon laws but there was no fix and i have just learned to live with it.

Wouldn't you have to turn up the line pressure as well as shimming the accumulators, and if line pressure is controlled by the ECU then it may be a problem, I know in earlier A340E's there is something inside the box that you turn to increase the pressure.Originally Posted by CrUZida
yea that what i reckon; the 1jz autos have a mechanical cable running to the tranny that controls kickdown and line pressures, in the aristo its all electronic.Originally Posted by Z2TT
prolly why all the onejay guise are all like "yea i have a shift kit and its sweet es brew" and we are all like "why wont my shift kit work on my 2j and i keep getting my car confiscated and junk?"

So without being able to modify the ECU, is there any way to get a good shift kit on a 2jz A340E, do MV have anything?
Thanks.
i wouldnt be suprised if he can do something now a lot better than i got a few years ago.Originally Posted by Z2TT
he did some pretty interesting mods to my gearbox that was a first as far as i know, so he is pretty clued up and keen to tackle new problems.
