    Default 4AGE water pump

Is there more than one type of pulley/shaft length for the 4AGE water pump? eg. On my 2TGEU there are two types of water pump, one with a long shaft and one with a short shaft, and as such there is two types of pulley to accommodate both types of shaft length.

there is a difference in that length between FWD and RWD 4ages (16v)
however i cannot remember what makes the difference. if its the pulley, or the pump itself
i think its the pulley. neede as the RWD alternator bracket lines the alternator up in a different place. my memory is fading though....

Yes there are two different water pumps for the 16V engines. FWD and RWD differ, the RWD one is longer and will also have a different pulley (I think it has an integrated clutch for the cooling fan). As far as the bolt pattern they are the same for the rear housing.

yeah RWD runs hydrostatic clutch for the fan. the pulley is a separate part

There is a very thorough thread here somewhere that covers this topic in great detail, but you will need to search for it.
