Reverse lights wiring on RA28

Hi guys,

Ive got rego in 2 days and ive got no reverse lights, they stopped working about 3 weeks ago. Any ideas on fixing this ? From the boot where does the wiring go to ? Ive been told its under the center console near the handbrake, possibly that red and white wire i always see, is that it ?

Why are there 3 threads ?

There are some wires that come out of the gearbox, get under and see if they are disconnected.

IIRC 12V comes from the heater fuse (near your right knee), runs down the firewall near the steering box to the gearbox.

Here it goes through a switch in the box and runs back up the same path and goes back to the reverse lights along the sill panel.

So, in no particular order...

Make sure your heater fuse is OK and you have 12V on the bottom side of it.

Make sure the connection near the steering box is clean and connected (as simon says ) and one wire has 12V when the car is out of reverse, and both have 12V when in reverse (I think only acc has to be on).

Make sure your bulbs are getting that 12 V

Make sure ur bulbs are OK

Make sure the earth on the taillights is clean.

Thanks boys. Could be that fuse, i dont check it cause i dont have a heater. Which reminds me i need to get a heater box, winter is coming. Ill check it in the morning.

yeah... and if they're checking the car... they should be checking the blower fan as well. Think it also powers some of the dash lights (charge/oil pressure etc).

it obviously doesn't power a 'heater' though... cos the heat comes from coolant

If your Heater doesn't work as in heating as well & they pick up on it you wont get your rego .....
