Joel as the guys have said when did you last change your fluid ??

Something so you know the difference next time ..

( 1 ) Boiled fluid will cause you to loose the pedal as in the pedal will go to the floor or a lot longer travel ( This above situation is only relevant under hard driving, if its doing it under normal driving you probably have a master cylinder issue, but thats another story )

( 2 ) Cooked pads the pedal stays pretty good good height wise ( no real difference ) but seemingly no matter how hard you push the car doesn't really feel like it slowing down & you will smell a VERY strong brake odour as well ..

The stuff you want is a resin injected fibreglass tube with wire in it normaly sewed in with kevlar thread. its the only shit worth using if your not into constantly replacing it.
How is a fibreglass tube going to handle repetitive movement better than a reinforced silicon one?

Ive used Aeroduct before, the stuff im talking about is plenty flexible and wont "break"

Im sure if that were the case it wouldnt be sold by pretty much every motorsport outlet in existance

I have OE brake ducts on my daily, but they are nothing more than bumper to fender liner channels pointed to direct air to the brake, just past where the wheel would be. Basically directs bumper intake airflow around the tire and into the brake as a whole. Not to a 5cm dia spot on the disc.

I'm sure they spent some wind tunnel time on that, and even on racing cars I havent seen much brake ducting bolted down to the hub like that. It's all large ductwork connecting bumper to fender liner, really. I would think a large duct like that would work better than a small but long corrugated tube with lots of turns in it, bolted to the hub. You'll see bugger all airflow through that, all said and done. You only have the breeze from vehicle movement to work with - which likes to go around such a tube instead of through it.

I'd definitely not attach it to a large backing plate like that - said plate might block more cooling airflow than it provides. I believe they're usually backyard jobs, such brake ducts...

I'm not sure about that web.... at over 100km/hr (which is where you spend most of your time on a track) I imagine the airflow would be massive.

My JZA80 has factory brake ducts front and rear, but imho neither are ideal. I'm sure they help, but I'm also sure they were made with ergonomics and such in mind - things which I don't care about.
That said, this is particualrly useful info for the (many) cars that don't have factory brake ducting

Stu, looks more like it is cable tied to a carbon fibre duct but a little hard to tell in that pic.
