strut top, struts
I have an MX83. I have been chasing a clunk in the front end for sometime now. I have replaced pretty much everything that I can think of, lca bush, ball joints, lca itself, sway bar bushes, caster rod bushes (what a shit job!), strut inserts, sway bar drop links, but nothing seems to have fixed it for good. Any ideas???

engine mounts, steering rack bushes (common that they flog out) crosmember tight?
i have a clunk in mine, turns out the shock is leaking and buggered...
yes i get the same thing, especially with the first hard brake app of the day there is a big CLUNK.
have replaced ALL front suspension bushes, calipers, steering rack recoed, engine mounts replaced with poly etc.
shocks are bilsteins but havnt had the fronts reconditioned (but they performed perfectly on the shock test thing at pedders, unlike the backs which were obviously stuffed and needed a rebuild)

I recon its the strut tops. My old were fell apart when I pulled them out.
I get a clunk in the rear only when I got over a decent pot hole or speed bump @ speed.
All my shit looks ok. Figure its the chassis flexing.
Mine is the strut tops and i get a progressive clunking which is the castor rod bushes.

My strut tops are slightly rooted also. Check them.

After i changed my suspension, i got massive clunks from the top of the strut as i went over bumps etc, because i couldn't get the nut to tighten because the nylon grabbed the strut piston and it kept on spinning. It required the torque of a rattle gun to tighten it up.
If you bounce your car up and down while stationary, does it make the clunk? If so i would suggest this is also your problem.
Can you replace the bearing in the strut top, or do you have to repalce the whole strut top?
my crez has it aswell. changed the whole suspenion with koni adj. and king springs still got the clunk. guy at pedders told me its the bushes in the front of the k frame.
What suspension do you use in the rear to low the mx83 mine sits too high and it shits me.
