Yes one of the best things you can do to a 7MGTE is to remove the jiggle valve.
went for a hurt tonight after removing the jiggle valve - filled radiator up to the brim an didnt have any issue - so far im putting the jiggle valve on my top blame list.
i was pretty convinces i dont have bhg as i put a pressure guage on the radiator with car runnign and revving the shit out of it and it didnt increase the pressure (overflow tube blocked off from guage)

you also can put the spiral wire out of a bottom radiator hose into the top, that will help in it not collapsing
nostalgia is not what it used to be:
havemnt had any more probs with rad collapsing since removign jiggle valve.
temp guage hasnt changed a great deal - still flutuates +/- 10 degrees

My 7MGTE did this similar kind of thing, gurgling and pulsating hoses but it was right after filling the siystem up from empty. There must of been a huge amount of ait in the block that cause a lock.
Also in relation to temp, i'v got my electric guage is fitted to the top hose which is the hottest point in the system and usually fluctuates between 80 and 100 . i'v got 2 8mm holes in my thermo stat which is excessive and causes it to take ages to warm up! One would have been heaps!
cheers
