Question How much boost from CT20B

I have a ST165 with all 205 engine and running gear. The motor was rebuilt with forged bits and others things lightened and balance. Fitted a Power FC with Datalogit and off to the dyno where we found the factory boost solenoid struggling to get us to a stable 1 bar but at 1 bar the standard (540) injectors were running about 90% duty cycle. We have now fitted a Apexi boost control kit and boost is stable. We have some SARD 800cc injectors winging there way from japan so it will be back to the dyno.
So guys how much boost can I screw out of the 205 turbo ?

You shouldn't have been on 90% duty with a CT20B on 15psi? I was around that duty running cams and a GT2540 on 14psi so your injectors should have way more life in them yet......you should see up to 220awkw using the 540's (have seen 240rwkw in RWD only)and you won't see more than that with the CT20B.

I ran my CT20B with Power FC and water injector at 19psi day in day out....had run as high as 23psi and still making good power gains but 19psi was a safer limit i figured

No way you need 800's with the 20B and the 540's are a much better match, giving a better all round tune.

i run my stock ct20b at 20 psi day in day out. made 204 kw atw.
is it a steel wheel or ceramic?

like justen said you shouldnt be reaching that much duty cycle at 15 psi.
    ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four 307kw atw @23 psi on 98oct, Now on E85.

On the dyno it ran 175awkw & 725Nm with 14.8psi boost

I was thinking 1.4bar would be a safe figure

That's good power mate but not sure why you are confused???

no way 175awkw is anywhere near the limit of 540's

1.4 bar is pushing it as a constant boost but just check intake temps etc on the dyno and it'll tell you whether it's worth pushing the turbo that hard.

I was told by the dyno tuner that with 1 bar the injectors was running at 90 % so I shouldn't try for much more boost without being able to supply more fuel and that 80% duty cycle was about the most the injectors should be running

I'm hoping the water to air will keep temperatures in check - I have the standard 205 intercooler with an upgraded radiator approx 2x size of stndard.

Cuts seems to be doing the job.

With mine, i found i had to add water injection to keep intake temps down for continous hard running (at the track say). Plus i used various thermo tec wrapping products and ceramic coating the manifold and dump pipe to try and keep general engine bay heat under control.

I have coated downpipe - exhaust housing and DEI heat sheilding on intercooler.
I will monitor closely inlet air temp on the Power FC - what is a reasonable temperature to see ?

you can lower temp that again with a thermal gasket , and a FMIC setup, if your super keen on reducing temp and maximising the potential ..

I have fitted a thermal intake manifold gasket.

I'm not convinced the FMIC is better than a water-to-air and would probably upgrade to a PWR barrel cooler when I need to upgrade that.
