+1 Top idea I am chasing some specialist employee's and can't find any
In the current economic climate, I know some of us are hurting financially/employment wise, and some of us are still doing well. I was thinking perhaps we could put up a sub forum where people could advertise their skills, or people could request work needed and if anyone in the area could fulfil their needs it's a win-win situation for the Toymods community.
Obviously there would need to be some guidelines, and the explicit understanding right from the start that Toymods is only putting people in touch with people. It's the individuals responsibility to check on credentials, and to neegotiate the work with the person offering the service.
I've seen at least one thread in the last couple days where someone asked where he could get some welding done, and another member offered. I just think a dedicated sub-forum perhaps under the classified section would just give us a more appropriate place to make requests offers.

You've suggested two things there in the first post.
One is a place where people advertise vacant jobs, and where people advertise that they are looking for a job.
And the second one is a place where people advertise their services. (ie, where you spoke about the welding)
While I agree with the first one, the second one we already have, its call the Sponsors section, and if people want to advertise their services, they can pay to become a sponsor.

Performance forums have a section like this called "jobs for the boys"

i think its a really good idea.
and i like the idea of having 2 sections:
1\ a WANTED or LOOKING for a 'proper' job (full part or casual whatever but its a real, ongoing job)
and
2\ one for someone who just needs some welding done, or maybe a hand with something technical on their build etc. i think this need a different section because sometimes people might not even want money to help a fellow toymods member, lots of people happily do it for the experience and to meet new people and for the fun.
also the helpers are usually happy with a barbie and a few beers at the end rather than expecting cash or payment.
also you can rely on that person to help you later, even if they dont have anything technical to offer, a lot of jobs often just need another pair of hands or eyes to help you out.
this 'assistance wanted' section is a big difference from being a sponsor however, and is not in competetion with any sponsors as i dont think the kind of people looking for free help or a one-off job will ever go to a full on 'performance workshop' if they cant find anyone in the community to help them.
but i understand that if i was a sponsor i wouldnt want anyone to advertise their own services for free; it must be a WANTED only section, and maybe also we could make a rule that NO CASH is to be offered or paid for the work, so that the sponsors are clearly not losing any income to this new section.
(you can help the other person later, lend tools or throw a bbq etc instead of paying monies)
also for both categories (if they ever go ahead) should require the sate you are in (or state you are looking for work, workers etc) to be in the title.

AU$TRALIA... come and stay and PAY and PAY!!! The moral high horse of the world!
another idea for both boards (especially the free help one) to prevent further interference with paying sponsors would be to make the threads to be WANTING or ADVERTISING for one job only.
ie, no permanent threads that are continuously updated or bumped to include extra jobs or work like someone has a big car project open that maybe they shouldnt have even started coz they dont have the skillz and they keep the thread open with constant requests for help and its like they dont even hardly do any of the work.
they are for one job or task only and when the job is copmlete or an employee has been found or soneone has been offered a job, then the thread must be updated and closed.
