Try Toyota, I got a mount for my Starlet and it was half what Bursons wanted for an aftermarket item.

Get them through a workshop that is in the Trade Grade program and get them cheap nuts

Don't assume genuine is always going to be expensive.

you can get some from toyota for $100.00 if memory serves me right. but i'd be going down to a wrecker if i were you.

EDIT: you can buy a complete mx83 for $400.00 these days, theres food for thought.

I got some from my local auto-one store and they were available in about 3 different aftermarket catalogues. Including mackay rubber. The ones I got were the cheapest from Bumba (made in malayasia or indonesia) or something like that and guess what they didn't really fit and I had to trim them with a knife until the metal cover fitted over the top.

Mackay rubber should be OK. Get a price on them.

Kelpro and Mackay Rubber are the aftermarket items I have used before, and they are both of good quality. I wouldn't risk the very poor quality of something extremely cheap as it will likely fail when you need it most.

Pricing genuine through a trade partner is a good idea, but just ring around your local parts stores, as they are likely to get sell them for about what you would pay on Fleebay when you include postage.

Buying secondhand engine mounts is about as good an idea as buying secondhand engine oil. When I was working for the Ford and Holden wreckers, we used to sell heaps of them. Six months later the same derro's would be in looking for another replacement set. We basically couldn't keep up with demand for engine mounts to suit the 250 crossflow, and there were only a couple of customers!!

i brought mine for nearly half that actually neal.

yeah will look at genuine ones then!

i wouldnt bother being dodgy and buying some more 2nd hand ones as they are all very old.

new ones should be fine with a 1jz.

with the cressy im trying my best to do it right the first time, dont want shit breaking every week like on the corolla

    EDIT:

that link says new rubber mounts are $80 RRP which id be happy at that considering what i was quoted for aftermarket items!

ill try and get onto someone who works at toyota tho. because $52 dollars trade price sounds better! even if i have to pay $11 for an express post bag haha

I believe the genuine ones are a liquid filled mount, and as such are far superior to aftermarket ones.

I bought genuine late model MA70 ones a few months back for about $80 each (tradeish)

    Yeah, they aren't solid rubber.

I honestly can't remember if the MX83 uses them, but I'm pretty sure they do.

hhmm... when mine broke taking the 7m out they looked to be solid, but they could be liquid (hydrolic oil?) more towards the middle of the mount.
