Valve stems usually only blow oil smoke on startup due to oil running down the valve into the cylinder. They don't usually blow smoke constantly at idle.
Hi
My camry blows a white smoke during idle.
Might be the valve stem seals. I'd like to give it a try fixing it my self but i better not (incase somthing went wrong). Plus i dont have the tools and the knowledge.
any workshop specialised in these area? like in wa
cheers

take a spark plug out if the thread has oil in it then your seals are in need of replacing also how many k's on the car/motor
check all the plugs i mean
jus got the mechanic checked today and he said definetly the seals needs replacement.
also got a quote and gonna cost over 2k![]()
rings gone......
how to fix that?
do i have to get a whole new pistons or just changing the ring it self is enough??
i thought if that was really bad you will get smoke at idle too.Originally Posted by Gavatron

and martin donnon said that so it must be true.
MX83 2JZ-GTE!!
#YOLO.
new rings and a dunnybrush of the bores.
whether or not it needs pistons cant be seen until u strip the motor...
Just drive it.Originally Posted by lee3671987
Is it using a lot of oil, km/mi per l? Overheating? Did it start smoking suddenly and also lose power?
What's the compression?
If it isn't using more oil then it would cost to fix and if it is just gradual wear & not a broken ring/piston, then it might run 10,000+ without getting much worse.
