That thread just runs you through how to test the VSVs and Actuators...

No boost is usually a result of the following I find...

Option 1: Intake Air Control Valve is stuck OPEN
If the Intake Air Control Valve (IACV) Actuator (Coming off the top of the compressor outlet of the rear turbo as seen in pic below) is stuck OPEN then when the front turbo trys to build boost pressure it takes the following path.

Front turbo compressor outlet -> through OPEN IACV -> Backwards through rear turbo compressor -> out rear turbo compressor intake -> to airfilter (This results in no pressure!)

Option 2: Exhaust Gas Control Valve is Stuck CLOSE
If the Exhaust Gas Control Valve (EGCV) Actuator (The section in the exhaust just before your exhuast joins up) is stuck CLOSED then the rear turbo will never come 'online'.

I'd expect more than 3psi on just the front turbo however, so I'd be looking more at the IACV as opposed to the EGBV...

Option 3: Pressure Tank / Hose Routing isn't correct
If the IACV / EGBV VSVs don't get pressurised air, then they can't open... in this case you won't get the rear turbo come 'online'. As before though I'd expect more than 3psi on the front turbo only...

    Thanks Wilbo,
I unplugged the IACV solenoid and put 12v on it and it clicked, however it only let me blow through 1 port and not the other. My son (who assembled motor after rebuild) said the original one was buggered and found one off the 2JZGE VVT motor and fitted it - it may have different porting!
I unplugged the 2 vacuum lines, off the solenoid, and joined them together - took the van for a run and for the first giddy up go it boosted to 10psi until the blow off valved operated. On the secong giddy up go I had nothing - maybe to do with no storage in tank.

I suspect the reason that you had no boost the next time round was that the IACV was still stuck open... you never vented the boost you made that opened the IACV actuator... so it was still open! I mentioned what happens if the IACV is open all the time before I think...

Disaster has struck, I wired open the IACV and took the van for a drive and the blow off valve was having a heart attack. I gave the engine some squirt to see what boost - had little boost but then there was a twang, which I feel was one of the turbo wheels falling off and now the van emitts large smoke screen.

I really should leave this stuff to the experts!!

could be, as a very smart person mentioned earlier, that the exh wheel was already fubared, and that was just it giving its final goodbye

A very smart person. DRAVEN... After Wilbo made a visit to my place and sorted out my vacuum and electric dilemma, I then replaced the front Turbo (which had no exhaust wheel) and away we went with 10psi boost until 3400rpm, then boost went to zero. Wired both actuators open to allow exhaust to feed 2nd Turbo and had no success.
During this long weekend decided to replace the rear Turbo which entailed the dropping of the motor out the bottom of my Van to allow access.

All finished by 2pm Monday but then the engine wouldn't start, SHIT - when is this going to end. Checked all connections, metered supply voltage and all seemed in order but yet no spark. Put battery charger on and went inside for a beer. Came back out expecting to ring the local wreckers but alas it started. Went for a test drive and all is good - keeps boost above 3400rpm.

So fingers crossed she all good and I can get on with living - being 50 I can do without all this stuff, even went and looked at an Hyundai Iload then other day - piece of shit.

Towed my race car down to Oran Park from Brisbane last weekend, and although only having 1 Turbo working, it was sensational - accelerating up hills in 5th gear.
