Try places that sell commercial cable, maybe somewhere like JR Turk, Olex Cables, etc

May I ask why you need such a large cable?

big modified 4wd in one case, high cranking amps and resonable length of run lots of acc to run too , (batt in boot )
other is the 4, and just cause i hate voltage loss.

Voltage loss in cars is rarely caused by the cable. Its mainly caused by dodgy joins and/or dodgy earths.
4gauge cable is usually good for 120A sustained, outside a starter motor (and possibly a large winch) you'll never see this on a road car, and rarely on any car.
A single 4gauge for the 4 is easily enough, and twin 4gauge for the 4WD.
Welding cable is usually part way between 2 and 4 gauge, and I'd recommend using that.

All about 12 volts (in auburn?) are great for this kind of stuff... but there's no way you need a 00g cable![]()
yep. ok agreed. however, il run 2 gauge. and voltage loss... man i can show, i know my joints and good. 1 or 2 volts front to rear in a landcruiser on 4 guage.

Voltage drop is usually caused by distance, and the amount of electrical pressure(Volts), and the amount of current being drawn(amps).
Seeing as it is 12VDC i can see how there could be a voltage drop, so going with a larger cable will theoretically fix it. Although as said above, it depends on what you're running off it, if you need to pull big amps then go with the larger cable. But just to run what you need, losing a volt or 2 shouldn't matter..(i would hope)
Correct me if i am wrong, cause if i am then i will need to erase my brain with what i said above lol
Mmmmmmmm 2ZZGE
What you've said is correct. Distance and load is the biggest killer.
Given that in a car you are usually peaking around 40A, and the cable is rated for 120A (4gauge) and the distance is about 6m (max) the volt drop should be almost negligible.

i can easy see the 4wd pulling 150 constant. with the spotties on and the ems and winch and fridge etc
he has 2 alternators .

100W spotties draw about 7.5A each
Headlights about 4A each
Rest of the lights, 10A tops
ECU/fp/accessories 30A tops
Fridges *normally* run off cig lighter sockets, so 10A tops.
So you are looking at 100A abs max, and of course depends on the size of stereo a bit more.
The winch would be the biggest killer, but I'd hazard a guess that like a starter motor or amplifier it would have its own decent sized cable directly to the battery.
Have you actually measured the 150A, because that is a shiteload of current to be pulling in a car.
Obviously there could be a lot of 4WD stuff I don't realise people use, air compressors etc.

none of which gets used at the same time.
let me guess, its a 60 series and you just want the big cables so you can talk to the talk, coz the 60 cant walk the walk?
where is the winch connected to? direct to battery or direct to one of the alts?
would it make more sense to run it off the alt rather than the battery?
diesels are a prick for starting with their high compression, i had a battery that couldnt even throw my 4.2 patrol over, put it in my corolla and its still working fine.
id use the 2 gauge or double the 4s in the cruiser, but that would be heaps i think, if your still having issues maybe the starter is getting tired and not working very well because its full of mud?
