Where do i find the oil pressure bypass valve on a T serires engine. Specifically on my 13T block with a 2TG head.

Thanks dude. I'll check it out. I'm looking to shim the spring a bit for some more pressure.
it will nto increase pressure before you reach max.. it will only inrease the max pressure..
ie, once you hit 4000rpm or wherever the oil pressure pegs.. that pressure will increase, but it will take a few more hundred rpm to reach the max.. the rate of increase at lower rpm will nto increase...
if ya know what i mean...
see the bit sticking up near the middle on this pic?

Can you cause damage by having too much oil pressure?
hmm... maybe
lots of drag on the pump causing more friction on the gears... bending the aluminium housing? pushing bearings around?
but in all probability, as long as your oil filter doesn't pop, should be fine??
usually just more heat and power loss...

As with anything on the internet if your going to try this, its at your own risk. Talk to some engine builders and work out how much oil pressure you should be running before changing anything. I've been told 10psi per 1000rpm is a good rule of thumb though. So at 40psi max i feel mine is a little low. Which is why i'm looking at doing this. I've tried different oils etc and nothing really changes, pressure still max's at 40 so i think the spring may have sagged a little.
is quite possible.
K series Tosco guide suggests a 2mm spacer to bring pressur eup to 60psi.. but that is for being thrashed during racing.
i put the spacer in and had no ill effects from a far few km driving (30-50Kkm?)
K series poumps are basically identical to T series (3TGTE and R series have thicker gerotor, but thats abotu all)

As a sidelight, i am using a cheap oil pressure guage and it is reading nearly zero at idle (800rpm) and maxing at 65 - 70 at about 4000rpm.
however i use to run at a higher pressure when the engine was cold, (now this isnt happening..most likely due to hotter weather). are these oil pressures acceptable....or do i have an issue.
the only reason i am asking is because the engine is a litle bit rattly at idle...but wwhen revving no rattling at all (possible because of louder general engine noise but was wondering if anyone else experiences this.
if it is just character of the motor and i shouldnt worry to much, let me know.
cheers
Jamie
low oil pressure = not enough tension on the chain....?
what oil?

Penrite HPR 30.
So hence i should be tightening the chain...i am sorta weary of this as i have been told a few different ways and am afraid of overtightening and bang....
advice would be awesome....
Cheers Jamie
while i never tested it with a gauge i shimmed up a 4K oil pump 1mm with no ill effects(touch wood).
i did noticed before i did this that the oil light always took that little while longer to turn off than usual. After i did it the light would turn off as soon as it fired.
