1433mm Rear Track
Whether that equates to the diff width i can remember, but yeh the VN is 1480mm or so. If you want a smaller track i think VB to VK are even smaller
Diff width is track width plus offsetx2, Commodore is about 40P offset (VN onwards at least, not sure on VL) so that calculates to approx 1510mm for VL and 1560mm for VN. The VN measurement corresponds to what I've measured and is the same as EA onwards Falcon.

If you are after a bw78 diff use the skyline or pintara, better width and better gear ratio and discs. Pintara has 2 pinon 25 spline axels 4.11 ratio, Skyline has 4 pinon 28 spline axles 3.9 ratio. Mix and match parts to make a 28 spline 4.11 ration diff as needed.

or use a volvo diff![]()
...... butt scratcher?!
Yup,Originally Posted by 3jcelica

also be aware that they have a high pinion offset, most toyotas are 25mm or thereabouts whereas the skyline diff is 45mm which may play havoc with your trans tunnel.

1400mm axle flange to axle flange.

which is also exactly what a VL runs except 3.45. VL and R31 run identical drivetrain. 28 spline is pretty rare nowadays.Originally Posted by 3jcelica
That's VL turbo/V8 only. NA 6 had 25 spline like pintara. And then all VN to VP ran 28 splineOriginally Posted by jimmmayyy
fords have a 25spline lsd,not as strong though.BW are also in chryslers.
Falcons up to XF are generally 25 spline, EA changed to the 28 spline.

Hi Guys,
I am looking at doing a BW conversion on my TA22. Called nissan wreckers and they quoted complete diff axle to axle with a 3.89 ratio for $295.
What are your thoughts?
I am running 17X7 rims with a 40 offset, do you think I could get away with standard R31 diff width running these rims?
Rob
Najje,
I think there are better options for a ta22, the skyline diff is too wide for a 22 without shortening. Look at the volvo diff or an f series diff. The lats one I picked up from u pullit for ~ $100 with discs and calipers. You also want a 4.11 unless you are running a torque motor. Centres are difficult to change on you own with out the right tools so you want to get the right centre to start with. As Witzle says use a volvo but you are up for a stud conversion.
