I have seen quite a few Holden 5.0 V8's infront of a Porsche G50 in Lambo kit cars... Nice big drive shalfts too!

A lot of offroad guys run 930 CV's in their race buggys.

I have some pics of a ITB'd dry sumped 1UZ in an early 80's ex F1 car if you are interested?

Not cheap but Ford GT (newer ones not GT40's) transaxles can take quite a bit of power and are 20k new.

tell me if its a stupid idea, but could u use (if room permits) a 4x4 hilux gearbox n transfer case? and maybe somehow modify it to just run in 2wd off the 4wd output??

Yeah OK that's a stupid idea

prob with that type of design....and BTW you'd just use the UZ AWD Aristo gear to do it....is that the diff (formally the front diff and now the only diff) sits under the engine or box which means the whole assembly is very high.....This is OK in the front of an AWD but not much chop for a rear engine sports car eh.

diff centre sits prettty well in line with the gearbox (c to c)

Porsche 928 is a possibility, I think I've seen a Hewland as well but that would sit you on your ass for cost.

BTW, a 928 rear end goes for around 10k for a rebuilder.
I have a Porsche 928s project with a supercharged 1uz in it. cost $2k to mount motor and bell housing great fit though.
