Sleepy1G, if you were to turn the key and wait 5 seconds before cranking do you still get the problem ?

    Just thinking out a loud
“if you are losing pressure over night, then the fuel line pressure would return very quickly once the fuel pump is started & well before the engine sparks up,
If there is no fuel pressure then the engine will not start so this indicated there must be fuel pressure”

pressure is there within a second or 2,

i'm wondering if there maybe a glitch in the map for the cold start. wonder if it more on a particular variant of the 1g

if there would be a glitch on the cold starts for the map, wouldn't all 1g-gte's of a certain generation do it then?

I too don’t think it’s a glitch in the maps (the ECU only uses the maps for fuel correction as I understand it) and this would be evident from the factory, it may however be older capacitors which are showing there age and leaking.

but from what I have read we have still not ruled out the fact that fuel is leaking out of the system (via the injectors?) this causing air/vapor lock and this would take time to flush out, even with fuel pressure when the air/viper hits the injector it would cause a loss of fuel for a short time.

I think even if we loss pressure over night as long as there is fuel (only) in the lines once the key turned fuel pressure & supply is restored instantly.

Yeah that's what I've been told, pressure will drop but as long as there is fuel remaining in the lines it shouldn't be a problem. If a fuel pump check valve was bad i'd assume fuel would leak back into the tank and cause a bad start.

Other than that I'd agree with the dirty injectors causing fuel to leak into the inlet tract.

    Hi,

About a week ago I changed the Spark plugs from NGK BCPR6ES to Denso PQ20R's that I had from my old soarer, since then it has been starting better, but only sometimes, other times the same problem.

Wondering if a fuel pressure reg could cause this.
Looks like I'll be replacing the fuel pressure reg next.

    Thanks.

I have since changed the fuel filter, not sure if that has anything to do with it but it didn't help.

Been looking for a fuel pressure reg, as I sold my old one with the rail. Does anybody have one?

Other than that the only other thing i could do is get the injectors cleaned.
