    Agreed.

Unless its an evo or wrx, daily and track car doesnt really go together.

    However OT

Remove anything which makes the car a luxury and keep the things needed.

    Remove carpet, deadening.
Id advise against removing the airbags. Might just save you slightly at the track day.

i could do with 20kgs of weight reduction

sound deadening, stereo, electric aeriel,, rear wiper, 50 million piece's of plastic trim covering, 50 miles worth of un used wiring once you remove un needed electrics,

like said above, wouldnt waste your time on a daily, get yourself a dedicated track car and get naked from there!

Have a look at RZ's member's ride thread on performance forums - he gutted the dash behind the trim (inc. climate control, radio, etc), an a lot of interior trim has also been removed plus noise insulation, etc...

His JZA80 is little more than a street-registered race car

Your not going to get enough weight out of a daily to make a difference without compromising it in some way - particularly if your Supra is tidy and in good condition it just isnt worth it

Buy another cheap car and either use that as the daily or turn it into your weekend warrior - its *a lot* more satisfying not having to compromise on weight reduction

My track Soarer is well over 200kg lighter than my daily Soarer (and more weight still to come out) but to get there means no aircon, no heater, no interior, bare minimum dash, racing bucket seats, gutted wiring, lightweight battery...

Greg, I don't think you're going to get anything useful beyond swapping the seats and the passenger side airbag. Toyota went to a great deal of effort to give the Mk4 big brakes, decent engine, big diff, whilst making it nearly 100kg lighter than a Mk3. You've already mentioned the alloy bonnet, but even shit like hollow carpet fibres were used.

I'm with CLG, just stop comparing it to an old Corolla. Think about it this way, if you do those few mods, you'll get it under 1500kg, which puts you only about 100kg heavier than average Golf GTI etc. The Supra really is quite light for what it is.

Oh, and you're right, if you lost 20kg, you'd just die
