Default Smelly Seat Syndrome, how to get the smells out?

I bought some group A seats last week from a ST185 celica and they have a lingering smell to them of sweat. I've used interior cleaner, covered them in bicarb soda etc but nothing has worked.

Is there any suggestions to get the smell out?

    Thanks

Have you tried a good wet vacuum followed by some Febreeze? That got my seats in my old Celica clean as.

I probably should give that a go, i've heard that the steam cleaners work quite well.

I was amazed about how much crap came out of my seats. I used a mild detergent and just kept lightly washing them with the flexible attachment until the water came out nearly clear.

I use those carpet cleaners from Woolworths etc. Just ask for the upholstery attachment and heavy duty cleaner and be amazed at how much muck comes out of your upholstery....
Pull the seats out and do the whole car. It makes it feel brand new again.

What about some of those carpet cleaners that are flakes that you sprinkle on and brush off later?

As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are

buy a can of stuff called "no vac"

it sprays on as a foam then it soaks into the fabric....works well. we used it in a service centre when people would smoke in our loan cars (or we did ) and it got the smell out straight away

also good after smoking too many billies in a "non-smoking" hotel room
and worked when a friend moved into a house that had waaayyy too many curries cooked in it by the previous tenants.

Don't waste your money on d-foamer in woollies you don't actually need it at all. Not every Woolies has the hand attachment either so ring ahead.

They're shit, and using them on my carpet killed a vacuum cleaner, because it sucks the powder through the motor and it got clogged and overheated. Voided the warranty too. They sure as hell didn't mention that on the packaging..

CT 14 degreaser straight , scrub it in and then hose off , It takes a few goes but the seats will come up as new as the worn fabric allows. Ive never had a color run either as i got a bit worried using CT14 straight (its strong stuff).

Take them to a car wash and pressure wash them.
Make sure its done on a hot day so they dry quick

I did actually give em a clean with the high pressure originally. I did spray some washing powder in a bottle (maybe its the powder thats making the smell too)

I may try that ct14 stuff lol. I'm sure it might smell quite strong though too.

Anything to get StinkyMc Seaty not smelling anymore

Thanks for the awesome suggestions so far!

The only problem with that is you're not cleaning the dirt out, you're just pushing it into the seat.
