A big loss to many people, very saddening to hear that someone who's been such a big help and positive influence to so many people felt so overcome with depression

Just further to my earlier post... I only met James the once, over the period of toyfest. We chatted, we drank beer, we got kicked out of the Lowenbrau (wait, that was me...), and then I got a very confused phone call from him as he was trying to navigate his way out of Sydney to get back to Vic for work the next morning. That was a huge amount of dedication, that trip twice in 2 days... I was really looking forward to seeing him again - great sense of humour, and general all round nice guy.

Depression is a real bitch, and I can only imagine how bad it was for him that this was his only way to escape it. Sometimes despite what everyone tries, depression wins out.... there's no failure, no blame. Just a completely shit ending for a bright young guy, and the trauma for those who knew and loved him.

    Viper Nipples,

You've given me with alot of good memories. You were one of the Melbourne guys I caught up with several times, over the years, but you seem to have escaped my camera everytime - believe me I've just looked through hundreds of automotive orientated pics. I recall your quiet nature, wit and reserved judgement the most, and your dogged determination - your massive effort to attend Toyfest '08 was truely devoted, and your ongoing cleaning duties both the night before at the car wash, and for what seemed like the duration of the show too?! Thanks for being there, being part of the group, and contributing as you have done - I will miss your company, your wry smile, and your dedication to the things you loved.

To James' family and friends, I'd like you to take the solace you can from the fact that there are a bunch of people here also thinking about you and James, and the loss caused by the preceeding events.

shocking news, sorry to you and your family Ross, on many occasions James has been helpful to me, by answering stupid questions and with general info and chit chat.

Never met him, either way, his presence on Toymods will be missed.

Shocked and sad to hear of this, my condolences to his family and to all who were close to him.

I only met him once, it was at the last dyno day James organised, he was very welcoming and approachable, had a great sense of humor and made a great impression as a really top bloke, he will most deffinately be missed by many.

    RIP.

This absolutely sucks. I met him for the first time in toyota fest last year, stayed in the same hotel as him and shared some good laughs with him over those couple of days, very fun guy to be around and always willing to have a laugh. I met him a few times after that but the most fond memory was at winton fun day only a few months or so ago, he rocked up with his ma61 ready to leave only to be too tempted and drove back home to get the supra and drive all the way back up to winton to take it around the track, can remember his grin ear to ear after hopping out of the car each time. only seemed like yesterday i was sitting in his car looking over the incar video of that day with him and having a few laughs with him about some hairy moments.
My sincere condolences to the family & i know there are probably a few guys down here who would like to attend the funeral, me included, so if anyone comes into contact with the family and its fine with them could they pm me the details.
    RIP Nipples.

Thank You everyone, it is so nice that James will be remembered for his positive qualities that you have expressed on this thread. I will post the details of his funeral on a new thread when they are organised. You are most welcome to attend.

I never met him and hardly spoke to him on the forum, yet I am deeply saddened. Accoring to his posts, He was a great guy, extremely funny and automotively minded. All the best mate.
