This is such a shock and my heart goes out to the family.
He is one of the members I had planned to meet in person one day.

    Ross,

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I got the news at about noon today at uni and I just about broke down. Took everything to keep it together and ride home in one piece. I only spoke to James a couple days ago and everything had seem fine.

James was a good mate who would help with anything and never expected anything in return.

Again, sincerest condolences to you Ross, your wife and your daughter.

    Oh damn.

Met him a few times, genuine good bloke.

My story is of our meeting neat St. Kilda.
We were meant to meet on some tiny road, I forget the name.
Turns out there was 2 roads with the same name in the same area.
Took us a good 30mins to figure out what was going on.

Condolences to the family and thank Ross for having the courage to post on a forum, albeit one he loved, which to most would seem like the last thing to do at a time like this.

    RIP James

I'm so sad to hear that James is no longer with us, and that his depression came to this. He was a really helpful and fun friend. He will be missed.

My condolences to all his family and friends.

    Rest In Peace James.
I've met and talked to James a few times and I always thought what a top bloke he was, and I know he was always up for helping out lots of Toymodders with their cars.
I haven't seen him in a while and when Yian broke the sad news to me on MSN today I was shocked and speechless.
My deepest condolences to the Nicol family.

My thoughts are with you Ross and the Nicol family through this difficult time. This has really caught me off guard because although I never knew James personally and I'd never met him he still seemed like a stand up guy and was always there to help anyone that needed it.

I joined these forums about 3 years back now and became a part of the regulars that visited the MA61 dedicated thread here and soon after bought my own supra. He was always one of the guys to answer other peoples questions and help out wherever he could and the community can't thank him enough for it. I wish I'd had the chance to meet him face to face but I hope wherever he is, he has found peace.

I'm really really shocked. James was such a great bloke, truely indicitive of the community here and I think he will be sorely missed for a long time to come. Always helpful, always friendly. Fuck, I was having a beer with him talking shit about NA-T convertions after the last dyno day he organised. That was, what, 3 months ago or something...

My sincere condolences to Ross and the family. We will all miss him.

Ross, i am devestated for your loss,

It was only last night that james was at my house with a few mates working on the lancer. He was such a great guy nothing would never be too much of an ask. My real last memory was when we took a fridge to the other side of the city to deliver it to these group of indians all living in this one unit. I needed to get some change for them so they all climbed into my work car and went to the ATM. When i came back they where all talking toyotas.

He was amazing with his practical skills, anything he set his mind to he could pick up straight away. I had a set of Turntables at home and he claimed that he never used them before, but within 20min he was mixing better than me lol.

Words cannot discribed how shattered i am he was a honast caring person who made his mark on alot of lives,
    rest in peace cuzzie, Nick

ps, if there is any events to commemerate his life can someone please PM me. I dont go on these forums alot, Cheers

What a shock! condolences to the family..

I met James a few times, the first being 5 years ago. He may not remember me but we were on a MCCR cruise and his celica and mine were pretty much the only toyota's there. He came up to me and introduced himself. we catched like we had known each other for years. I Felt very confortable talking with him. Really approachable bloke, very intelligent and on the ball.
I also went for a spin in his brown supra at the park near heidelberg. He knew how to throw that thing around

His contributions will be sadly missed by the Toymods community
