    Default KKR Turbo's

    Anyone have first hand experience?

    Links to good reviews?

Have done a search but there isn't alot of information around.

Also, could anyone comment on the KKR380's being a suitable replacement for the CT12's currently in my 1GGTEU?

Their website says they are suitable for Single turbo application in 2L+ and twin turbo application in 3L+

Will they be ok in my 2L?

I've been running a pair of KKR 330s for 18 months without any issues.
As long as you don't overboost them past their rated range, I don't foresee any issues.
They're great value for money compared to Garrett equivalents.
Grant from Otomoto is excellent at pre and post purchase advice/support.
I have no hesitation in recommending them.

    Thanks manny!

Can anyone advise on what i will need in order to install these Turbos?

Will they bolt straight in? or will i need additional parts?

if so, what will i need?

I know these are very basic questions, i have done a search however couldn't find anything solid. So if theres a good write up please post the link!

For a 1G I'd recommend the KKR380 like you'd planned. The cheapest option is to get a Y-pipe adapter. What it will do is merge the two turbo manifolds into one where you can bolt the KKR on.

You'll also need to sort out oil/water, although you can modify some of the factory stuff.

starky is using a kkr 430 on his st185 type a, seems good so far, he had trouble initially with them sending the wrong compressor cover, but its all sorted now and with 7000 or so kms under it its still going fine.

I have also heard good things from these turbos, but also heard they have trouble holding boost on the internally gated ones.

Not sure if the kkr380 is internal or external, but if it is internal, might be a thought to run a external gate to control boost, and weld up the internal gate...?

I will also add, this is not my personal experience, i am only repeating what i've heard...

Thanks for all of your replies!

Grant from Otomoto has advised either the 280's or 330's would be the best for my application as i wish to retain twin turbo. So i'm thinking i'll go with the 330's? unless someone has a compelling argument otherwise!

As far as service goes, Grant replied to my enquiries first thing this morning, pretty impressed so far!

Mate, dont retain the twin turbo idea. If you want to do this all on the the cheap, get a 380 + a Y pipe as stated, this halves the work load as NO setup is BOLT IN for the 1g unless you highflow the stock twins or get a set of blitz bag units (already high flowed stockies).

Correct. Don't dick around with twin turbos, the single will be easier and more performant.

Hey pal,i am using one 330 at the moment with a single type mani.
The first thing i had to do was restrict oil flow using a 1mm hole i nearly died looking at the size of the hole.
the flow formula given to me by ottomoto was place oil line(restricted) in a measuring jug run for 15 sec times that amount(mils) by 4 and if it fell in between 500 and 700(mils)per min at that flow would be aceptable.
Second thing was Exh turbine cover was a different bolt pattern to the T28 i had on there, bugger i thought so i tried my garrett cover being the same A/R ratio and low and behold it fitted no new dump pipe req.
wastegate hole was to small on the garrett so dremelled it out to the same size as the KKR one.
Havent had it on the Dyno as yet but man this is a good size turbo .82 rear gives it some power up top while still retaining good response.
It will be better than the baby twins.

yes i would recommend them for the price for sure.

    Cheers Guy
