One would think if you overfilled the oil, it would blow smoke the whole time, not randomly or intermittently. But it is a possibility.

Car has been fine the last 2 days, I will see how it goes.
Im giving it a bit as well, to try and ensure that it isnt anything wrong, and will be doing another oil change (With the correct amount of oil) again tonight or tomorrow.

I have a Dyno on Saturday, so if there is anything wrong, I'm sure it will come up there.

After reading your first post. The important line was "I did an oil change on the weekend," My first thought then was too much oil. Had it happen at work before. One of the guys filled the oil in an astra twice, so literally double the amount of oil. we managed to drive it for easy 5 mins without anything, then it poured white smoke out of the exhaust as we went around a roundabout. Then once we straightened up again it stopped.

So it won't blow smoke all the time.

He also said he was "cruising down the expressway" when it happened tho, so doubt much oil would be sloshing around.

Herus, hopefully for you it is just an excessive oil issue!

It was on the hill bit, so could have happened then. I may have just accelerated to overtake someone as well.

An extra quart in my 4AGE put out smoke like a mosquito fogging truck for a few days, whenever the engine was tilted towards the shallow end of the pan.
I didn't think it was over fillled enough to bother with draining it.

    Updates!

Well after having no problems with a lower level of oil, and then doing an oil change, and still having no issues for ~100klms, I went on my first dyno run..

The car was fine, boosted no worries had no issues at all with my 3 runs.

Was talking to the dyno operator, and suddenly, white smoke, bad fuel smell again.
It was instant, we had been standing outside the car for ~ 1 minutes before it started again.

The dyno operator suggested it may be my fuel pressure regulator not function correctly, but Im beginning to think it may be ECU related as Z2TT said.

Do we have any other suggestions before I spend lots of money trying to get the problem fixed?

Oh, BTW, I hit 140rwkw with a stock 1jz with no mods, and still running the restrictive cressida exhaust. Dyno graph will be in my members ride thread shortly.

    Thanks guys.

Her-ass, does the 1JZ have a PCV valve or such like in the breathers in the cam cover? this could be blocked/not functioning correctly. We did a swap on a mate of mines EP82 and it billowed smoke out the back until we correctly setup the PCV system.

Have you opened the ecu up for a look. Heard many a story of similer things happening from caps in the ecu. Sounds like injector sticking or injector firing issues.

My bet is the ecu, esp as it comes and goes like it is. Have you checked for codes?
