would it be worth doin that or doin adjustable coil overs i was told its easy 2 do a front end convo
from stock 2 s13
i took it out 2 oran oark on sunday for a drift day was awsome i didint do 2 bad
Im assuming that the struts are the same as an XT130..If so early commodore ( vb vh ) shocks fit them.Plenty of good inserts available for them.
There is nothing wrong with cutting springs.use angle grinder.
Standard springs are way to soft for drifting. Should be able to pick up some aftermarket falcon springs from the wreckers for peanuts and cut the down. That will hold the front up.
With the ones i use, 16mm falcon each coil cut is about 80lbs.
i race speedway but i assume the rear needs to be really stiff to keep it sliding.? Body roll shifts weight giving more traction..dont want that.
Again cut down a set of standard falcon rear springs.

i have a rt142, mods are:
vl commo front springs
corona kings springs on rear (cut)
sierra shocks on rear (shorter)
custom negative roll centre adjusters to adapt ke20 steering knuckles (shorter than ae86 p/s arms) to the stock struts
extractors/2.25 exhaust
dished steering wheel
ra60 diff with trd 2-way lsd
it slides ok in the wet and i have HEAPS of lock but it needs a little more power.

i bought a rt142 once simply for street skids
i didnt touch it, those things a factory skid weapons lol
Im guessing the RA diff bolts straight in, do you know what ratio it is compared to stock?Originally Posted by japlish
I was thinking of just using an AJPS lock spacer for more lock.
another cheap one for you...use MX73 lower control arms..they are a little bit longer.Originally Posted by Braden

Not seen silvia struts, but it would to give you a big advantage to make all the work worthwhile.Plus steering geometry is very important..so make sure that the silvia one dont change it.Originally Posted by Braden
Ive found that the corona struts do a great job.

Granted that silvia coilovers are cheap but they are also second hand and very likely to be well worn/rooted.

Hey mate good luck with drifitng the RT. (seriously... Old school cars hitting the track sideways is always fun to watch)
But i think the most important thing you will need that I dont think has been posted yet is a fire extinguisher. Your car can be sh1t as, but if your car catches alight on the opposite side of the track and theres not a nearby marshal theres a $30 difference between having no car and a slighty toasty one. And not saying your car WILL have a fire, but I've seen it happen to many cars.
Go and drift... *responsibly*
Edited post.
