pretty much all of the toyota performance 6 cyl engines have them, 1g, 1j, 2j,
I hope this is in the right section, but which motors come with a factory fitted bolt-on oil cooler that uses water as the coolant - eg the type that's fitted to gen 2 3SGE/GTE's. A guy has asked me where he can find one for a 4AGE and I'm trying to find a common source at the wreckers for him. From memory, later model 5SFE's had them? Can anyone confirm?

yeh my missus 93/94 5sfe camry has an water-oil cooler.
Strangely enough I have two 5SFE's here - one in a 1990 Celica complete with an oil cooler and also a bare engine which I got from a 1993 Celica which has no oil cooler. It looks like they played around with different configurations there.
I think your best bet is the Camry, there seem to be plenty of them at wreckers.
Sweet as, thanks people. I'll forward the info on. Sounds like the Camry will be the best bet.
I have one if you want to make an offer? Surplus to needs. excellent nick. 5SFE.
there are difference to the way the coolant piping comes in/out of the donut cooler fittings.
I looked at this for my gen 2 engine and the only non-turbo coolers I could find had water pipes facing the wrong way for me (to suit the other factory pipes).
rolleraction - Thanks for the offer, but its for someone else, and I've only got a contact number and don't really know the person that wants it, so I think its easier for all parties concerned if I just tell him what motors they can be found on.
Charles - Yep I'm aware of those differences, I've got both a GE and GTE style cooler laying around here somewhere and noticed that when I pulled the engines down. In this case either type will be fine, its going on a 4AGE that's mounted in an offroad buggy frame, so factory piping isn't a real concern![]()

Is the oil cooler part of the radiator?Originally Posted by DrNick

yeah most factory ones are at the bottom of the radiatorOriginally Posted by neal
4A-G smallports 16Vs had oil coolers fitted from factory.. they're the only 4A-Gs that come with them though iirc...
Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
They're not water-cooled though, which is what the OP is after.Originally Posted by Vios-GT_07
And my AE82 Twincam has a factory air-cooled oil-cooler, although I don't know if it came with the 7-rib that the car currently has (or one of the numerous previous engine changes). My 7AFE AE102 has an air-cooled oil-cooler as well.
AE102 - Charlene the Old Faithful, Reborn
JZZ30 - Lexi the Spacecruiser, 1JZGTE>>3SGE. 200rwkw, hunting Skylines and n00bs in SS Commodores
ST162 - Charlie the non-ghey Celica, 3SGE>>4AGE. GOOOOOOOONE
AE82 - Rosie the Bitsa from Hell, 70.8kw atw. Has been converted into garage space and money at last
KE55 - Billie the Beast, sadly missed
Yeah, its the water-cooled type the guy is after, I guess it would be less vulnerable to damage than an air-cooled oil cooler considering its going on an off road buggy.
1G-GTE's also have donut coolers (well, the ones that i've seen have had one).
