valve shim adustment tool

oh.. i was trying to imagine how it pushed down the buckets and shims, without touching the buckets or shims or cam??
or.. edge of bucket and cam off the lobe? (these new car things confuse me )

Edge of the bucket and the ummachined bit of the cam just next to the lobe.

The plier things go between the unmachined shaft part of the cam and the surface of the shim. Then once pushed down the little feeler blade thingy goes under the cam on the other side of the bearing and sits on the edge of the bucket.

Then when you pick out the shim with a pair of tweezers the whole thing lets go and you have to find all the bits on the floor of the garage. Until you have a little practice anyway.

I have the genuine toyota tool and its shit on the RWD larger engines . I pull the cams out 90% of the time .
Whos had to do the buckets on a 1GR yet ?? fun fun lol.
