I'm interested, might bring my daily down for it.. Provided it is at least slightly wet so i don't need to hammer my already ordinary clutch..

Either date suits me, i'd consider making a weekend out of it if i can crash somewhere too

Bardin, check out the Youtube vids I posted above when you get a chance, you'll see the track is well and truly wet!

Can i just point out that his name is Dereck not Derryth.. i have been out to the skid pad numberous times and can tell you that he is an awesome guy and his instruction is spot on.

he comes out in the car with you if its your first time and watches what you do for a couple laps then he tell you where you are going wrong and the best line to take etc. then he jumps out and lets you go around by yourself. once he has been in the car once he wont go in again unless your are doing something completely wrong or you ask him too.

the inside of the track is polished concrete and the outside is a fair put rougher. there are sprinklers all around the track which keeps the track very wet to tyre wear is not an issue

another thing to be aware of is he doesnt like stupidly loud exhausts. you have to have a full street legal exhaust (yes he does have a dB measurer) there have been noise complaints from a house across the valley and if your exhaust is too loud he wont let you go out onto the skid pan. the noise fines are roughly $3000.00 if its found to be too loud so he takes it very seriously. i have seen the EPA parked out the front taking measurements

So what is a skid pan all about?

I keep imagining pretty much a burnout comp in the wet..

the skidpan gives you an idea of what it is to slide around and how to controll it, ie counter steering, throttle control, hand brakeing.. its actually an anti-skid course.

it lets you "drift" off the street on a wet skidpan that has almost literally no negative effects on you car (apart from spent fuel)

you road speed doesnt usually go over 40kph while you wheel speed well be anywhere up to 80kph. most of the people that i know and are really good at it do the whole track in 2nd gear. im a noob though so i just putt around in 1st

most importantly it is alot of fun

Hhhmmm ok I worked out what is going on now, there is a Dereck Cook (who is the guy you are referring to nerm) and he'll be the instructor on the day and there is a Derryth Nash who is the person who does the admin and assists at the track training etc and has been the email contact.

I just assumed it was the same person and people mispronounced his name
