the brushes might be only just touching... so it can make the voltage, but it can't make enough current.
pull brushes out and check/swap.
hey guys i was driving home tonight and when i put the stereo on my lights start to flicker when i hit the brakes, and when i am on the highway my lights vaugly flicker when the bass hits and my bass setting is on like -5 on my head unit....and my bass cuts out when i am on idle....i had to move a few things in the back yard tonight and i left the lights on my car without it being on for like 5-10 minutes and it was hard to start the car, the battery was only replaced november last year.....do you reckon its the alternator????

Get a multimeter and see what voltage your getting at the battery when the engine is running. You should be see close to 14 volts with the lights off and near to the same with the lights on while you rev the engine. if your seeing 12.2 volts or something theres a prob with your charging system. Have you got amps running in your car?
Getting your missus to help bleed the brakes isn't everybody's idea of quality time.
You've got a short(or a crossed wire) somewhere in the wiring for the Headunit or front speakers maybe. That would explain the flickering, and also the power drain, I had the same problem with rear tail lights when I wired my headunit, had crossed one of the wires for the rear lights, on my car at least they all run up through the dash.. Cant imagine it would be too different on yours.

weird.. usually it starts happening when your alternator isn't providing enough juice or battery is near dead.
although farking up wiring probably doesn't help
