I just remembered that a friend also complained of an intermittent engine vibration that occurred when free revving at various random rpm and also occurred when driving.

It turned out to be his harmonic balancer (crank pulley) had come slightly loose and rounded out the key-way.

Another thing that may be worth a check?????

Yes but it generally just gets worse with increasing RPM and doesn't occur in a limited low rpm like koffee has described.

Fug it's hard to diagnose problems over the net Just got to keep throwing up ideas hey!

Hmm Harmonic Balancer, I have heard of Supra owners having to change them...I will ask a friend who has his, what the symptoms were.

My Cressida has a vibration aswell.Slightly when cruising around but gets a little worse when doin about 80km.And theres a bit of a jolt when u back of the accelerator on the freeway.

My guess its the tail shaft on its way out.

Car was good before i put the 1J in but who knows, the mechanic probly drop it or just shoved it around when the conversion was done.My mechanic mate told me that the shaft only need the slightest bump on them and there out of balance.
