hey all, im new to the forums and the club,i drive an ST184 at the moment, but unfortunatly i reversed into a tree 3 days ago(during storm, wipers dont work)
it was a real wake up call though, as i realised ive been spending to much money on what is always going to be, a 2 door camry(i love it though!!)
ive wanted an ST185 since i was 3, and the 184 was as close as i could get due to P plate restrictions, but i figured its best, put the moeny i spend on the 184, towards a 184, but ive been looking at other celica models, and i would consider a TA22 or an MA61, plans are to modify whatever it is I buy, i know a bit about TA22's, ans ST185's, so i know my options, but with the MA61, id probably buy the celica version, ive worked on the "super responsive 2400, and found it anything but, so an engine swap is an obvious choice, tyhe only thing that came to mind was a 1JZ, being affordable these days, is it particularly diffiucult?? or is it actually worth modifying the standard 2400??
the other advantage with the MA61 over the 185 is its cheaper to get a hold of
any help and suggestions would be great!!! sorry i typed so much! i cant shut up!
ciao

Get a ta22 something you can have long term plans and ambitions for.
Ta22 builds take a long time aswell, trust me 2 years sounds like a long time but its not due to the work thats involved. You'll also learn alot about cars and appreciate alot.
Get the body, suspension, brakes right and buy parts for a turbo conversion and hopefully have it ready by the time your 2 years are up. Obviously this would require alot of time where the car is getting built up and cannot be driven.
So you'll be cruising in boosted 1st gen Celica ultimate reward for full licence![]()
Is your current car driveable or is the damage petty bad ? You reversed into a tree so i cant imagine youd be carrying much speed, hence minimal damage.
Im in Castle hill where abouts you from ?
hmm, if i did buy a ta22, id REALLY like to keep it with the 1600, just extractors, a nice webber set up, minilite's keep it nice and origanal, i get cheap parts 2im a mechanic at toyota, nahhh, its not to bad, i cant afford to fix it at the moment, (a boosted 1st gen is MIGHTY tempting tho, id like a 20V in a ta22, that would be noice)
im out campbelltown way, castle hill, thats not too far
if ur comming on the cruise ill show you the damage
