if you can buy a small air pump with it they are fine, the gto's we sent to the USA only had an air pump with an inbuilt replaceable can o goo in where spare went, no complaints from the yanks
Hey guys,
Just wanting people opinions on those tyre inflator cans that replace the need for a spare wheel. Are they any good? Anyone have any experience with them? I know there not fantastic replacements for a full size spare, but just looking at options for a project.
Thanks!
Kind Regards,
Kurt.

I'm an atheist but it's not my fault it's the way GOD made me
So you'd spray this stuff in so it seals the hole up and then inflate the tyre with an air pump? 12v variety?

this thread might help
also from what i have heard you cant use the tyre after you use the stuff, so if you get a puncture that is repairable you are screwed and have to buy a new tyre

yeah u can use the tyre it just makes a shitful mess when you pull it off the rim.
turn upto the tyre shop with a 6 pack and all is sweet
i am about to lose my spare again (i put it back in for a while) but twin LPG tanks, a sub and a spare aint gonna happen if i want any boot left lol
Cheers. Yeah for this little project i need the bott space to be nice and clear, so just looking at alternatives.
I'll grab a can, and a 12v compressor and see how it goes!
Thanks for the help so far! If anyone has an experiences with these things, chime in!
Kind Regards,
Kurt.

I've been carrying a can and no spare for nearly 6 years now. Never had to use it though (touch wood).
I have used the smaller versions designed for motorbikes etc and I was dismally disappointed in how poorly it worked, it didn't even come close to inflating the tyre nor sealing the puncture.
A can of whipped cream would have been just as effective.
I hope I never have to use it on a car, it's only really there to satisfy the RTA anyway.

Ah cheers for that. I have never had a flat either in 6 or so years so touch wood too! Would it be prudent to carry the 12v compressor just in case it doesn't inflate well?

Kurt.

I bought a cheap $50 12V pump and thing only lasted about 3 tyre inflations and then died. Not sure if the $100 - $150 ones are much better???

None of those people rolled up with a sixpack for the extra trouble though either
Sell stacks of cans these days, but always keep a lil compressor and a rope plug kit in the boot of my own car.
I have "THE PUMP" tyre goo + air can in my boot of the Mark II
Have used it once on a previous car and it worked a treat, the can is about the size of 2 coke cans stacked on top of each other and contains enough air and goo to pressureize the tyre to 20PSI (to get you to the next station to pump up)
its awesome and for $12.50 from Repco , what a bargain
Awesome. Looks like thats the goer then. I'll give it a try, and grab a cheapy 12v compressor just incase (even though there crapolla as said).

or you could get a foot pump.... takes a bti more time, but is good exercise.. and rarely shit themselves
i use one for pumping up tyres before and after winter (from half inflation pressure).. doesn't take long

Thats an excellent idea OC! Might do that instead...saves having to run power to the compressor if i need it.

I reckon a decent foot or hand pump would be equal to or faster than a cheap 12v pump.

I dont think the RTA cares about (or more importantly has laws concerning) spare tyres, IE I dont think there is a law to say your Must have one, or any form of puncture repair in your car.
But if you do have one, it must be roadworthy
