As to p plate restrictions, i believe this extends to more than turbo engines, more along the lines of any modification to the engine makes it not legal for p-platers.

You haven't got a snowflake's chance in hell of getting those modifications and staying P-plate legal. Wait until your full license before you even think about it, that should give you time to save up as well.Originally Posted by m.carloff

the levin coupe with a 20v 4age would be a great start for you in my opinion.
You'll have lots of fun and stay p plate legal and save money too.
the conversion you mentioned would swallow so much money and time its not funny.
As others have said, good luck.
Maybe gab a 4AGE or a 2TG and see how that power feels before you start getting ahead of your self.
Might also want to go to your local RTA and check out the P plate restrictions. You may find that any modification is illegal for P platers. However if its a fairly sensible conversion there is little chance you'll get caught. (not to mention if you're a sensible driver!)
A 2GR in a TA22 would be a really good swap but I think you'd be better off reducing your target and going with a 3VZ or 1MZ. Either one will fit fairly nicely once converted to RWD and should provide plenty of power to get yourself in trouble with that chassis.
On the other hand if you continue on the way you've started with this thread I'd plan on a painful stay. There are plenty of people who are less than tolerant of people wanting to be spoon fed or making stupid arguements. Do some research, figure out your budget, price up some conversion packages and then decide if yo really have the skills to pull off the work. If you have to pay someone then I'd expect 15K to be a generous estimate it could easily go to 20K. If you have the skills and can pick up a 2GR for under 5K I could see the swap being done for ~10K.
If those numbers scare you then it's time to lower your targets.
I haven't read the P Plate rules but I am pretty sure basically none of these swaps are going to be acceptable for a P Plater. Not that it matters too much as it's likely not to be finished until you're off your P's anyway.
Time rich cash poor, not a good combo for 2GR conversions into old school cars.Originally Posted by Profile
I drove an Aurion the other week and was well impressed with the 2GR, would be quite nice in something light and RWD like an SW20![]()

I too have driven an Aurion and was quite impressed with its power. Even took it to the drags and did 15.1/15.2 (cant remember the exact time and gotta get off for dinner).
