Default Suspension advise for AW11 MR2...

    Hey All...

I'm looking for some recommendation on the following Coilover setup. Now before I continue, these are on ebay but when I checked further into them, they are from reputable sellers who advertise on ebay, some of their more unique setup to get publicity... (None of them are directly from Tailand or some of this region... )

    Anyway...
BC Adjustable Coilovers... from New Zealand...
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BC-Adjustabl...A1%7C240%3A1318

    and

    G4 Coilover Suspension... from Australia...
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/G4-Coilover-...A1%7C240%3A1318

    My current setup is ...
    Einbach Springs
    KYB Shocks (Non-Adjustable)
    and Whiteline Swaybars (Adjustable)

The reason I'm thinking of changing, although I've only upgraded about a year ago, from Original worn suspension, they were heaps better... but I still find that they are on occasion bouncy and very annoying. My 89 Supra was a lot firmer with Tokico Adjustable and custom springs... hence why I'm looking at these.

To compare prices... If I was looking ad KONI + Einbach springs, with freight and import tax, etc, I would be looking at $2K just for the Konis... Or alternively, what would be your recommendations?

    Thanks in Advance...

    Mike

I recommend stopping using internet only research and actually calling a local suspension place re the Konis.

Hahahaha... Unfortunetly, they are not Konis... If they were, I'd probably be happier... Current setup use the KYB shocks. They are OK, but I suspect that one or 2 of them have leaked, because the back feels bouncy (again) as per the original toyota shocks in there before replacement!!!!!!

I did call/contact several people locally, and I got quoted $3/400 per corner installed... just on shock replacement only... even getting them oversees, I'm still looking at Aus$510 a pair + about $180 shipping + somebody to fit them. I still don't understand why it's cheaper to buy oversees than to locally buy local australian made products????/

Would I prefer Konis... definitly. But I'm just looking at options at this point in time and starting research on what else currently is available. I've been a big fan of Konis, and I have heard nothing but good things about them, not to mention, I have driven various other cars (Not AW11) with konis, as was impressed by their firmness.

But I just can't walk past these advertised items... hence, why I was asking recommendation / advise / experience with these...

    Thanks
    MIKE.

Koni are Made in Germany IIRC

But no worries asking for opinions.

A few guys are trying out the BC coilovers now, but the G4 are proven rubbish

Dah!!!!! Now, why was I thinking that Koni's were made in Australia????? where did I get this info from? My appologies for this statement...

I have heard about the G4 being rubbish in the past... which I find suprising as JustJap are selling them????

But on the flip side, I've also heard some good stuff about the BC coilovers...

But either way... still interested in feedback / opinions... (I've done a search on BC and nothing comes up??)

It depends what you are wanting to do with the car??

Are u going to track it? Or do u just want coilovers for the height adjustabilty/firm ride?

I got G4 in my adub, and for what I use my car for, they are GREAT!

If ur going to track it, saves some more dosh and get koni + eibach or alternativly get in touch with scott (gun metal) and get details of the place that made his coilovers

MR22ZZ Koni are Made in Germany IIRC

I think you will find the majority of Koni shocks are made in Holland.

They have subsidiaries in other countries but the company originates from Holland, just near Rotterdam.

    Bilstein are German.
