Check there are no blockages in the fuel lines/filter.

It might end up being the capacitors in the end. Even if you can only see one slightly leaking, it's possible more are leaking underneath, where you easily see it happen.

it seems to get better when using about half throttle but as soon as i back off a bit it happens again.
i checked the ecu and everything seems fine. only one slightly leaking capacitor but i dont think it is enough to cause a problem.

My issue just randomly occured driving down the street and lucky i jus made it to my driveway,
i re - read what i quoted that you said above, and that was my EXACT issue.

Basically your caps in your ECU that control your fuel system are fucked out and have leaked on the tracks that control the flow of fuel from ur fuel pump.

Before getting mental , get someone near you with a 1JZ from the same car (ie. JZA70) and test their ECU.

could this be caused by bad fuel?

i organised to borrow an ecu to test this morning and my car drove fine on the way there so i didnt bother. its been good for a few hours since too. the only thing that has changed is i put a tank of fuel in her as it was about empty.

You should still have gone and tested the other ecu. How much fuel is in your tank? The coughing and spluttering could have been caused by low fuel level in the tank or your tank is full of muck. You need to start eliminating things one step at a time. I still think its the caps as thy work fine one minute and are playing up the next, another recurrent symptom.

the minute it starts happening again ill be heading straight for that other ecu.

the car was running good so there was no reason to swap it as there was no problem to fix

you have leaking caps in your ecu FFS. just change the ECU! Or get the caps replaced and tracks checked!

Its not expensive to get the caps replaced. They are leaking and need replacing. Whether its the cause of your problem or not. Its almost garanteed to cause all sorts of drama's very soon if they are not the source of your problems already.

Sorry to come across rude before.
