How bout a Ford 8.8????
http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=12379
Hey,
i did a bit of a search and it came up with a few options.
But my concern is width,
I dont want to have to get it shortened if i can avoid it.
suspension mounts dont really matter, as that problem is a given.
A hilux diff has been suggested but i'm not sure what model to take it from.
it needs to handle around 200rwkw, overkill is what im looking for,
Thanks in advance, Mookie

Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
E-series toyota diff. or F-series. they are in tarago's the Eseries is 7.1" and the F is 7.7"
My thoughts...avoid E series like the plague!!!
They aren't used in much, and aftermarket support, i.e. LSD's is woefull!
My thoughts!
F series is where I would be looking...
MS112 Crown would be something I'd look at... not sure if width suits you!
Cheers
Wilbo
ohk
what year are they ?
i'm looking for something that is fairly popular therefore it will be easy to replace.
thanks for the offer of the ford diff but its a bit too big for me thanks
yeh go f series becuase some have disk brake setup and are plenty strong enuff.
i dont know what year they came from.
i went with the g series hilux but it is a heavy mofo.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
i had a ae86 once and I measured up a F series tarago diff and it was going to fit nicely. F series if they have good aftermarket support has my vote..
the diff width measurements are scattered around toymods if you are willing to look.

Also you can search for AE86 diff info, as anything applicable to then is also applicable to your AE71.
Might turn up some more info.

I have a disc brake MS112 diff in my KE70 ute, 1450mm ish wide so about 40 or 50mm wider than standard. You would need to swap mounts over obviously and the diff is 5 stud so need to redrill or swap the front to 5 stud (what I have done). More FWD style offset is required if you don't want to run flares, I have rolled guards but managed to squeeze in 17x9.5's at 45P offset running 245/35 tyres without much trouble. My ute is based off a wagon which have leaf springs though so may be a little different if you have the 4 link rear in a sedan.Originally Posted by wilbo666

thanks for the help it looks like the f series is the way to go,
now just gotta try and make it handle
Hilux G series you want is an RN41
1410mm wide, same as AE86 and AE71, they go for peanuts if you can find them at a wreckers, but there is always a few floating around the forums for reasonable prices.
LSD are available for them from ARB 4x4, for about $800 I think, I found mine for $300 on the side of a road with a sign attached.
Ratio's vary from 3.46 to 4.7 and I think their may even be a 5.1 or something.
the only problem is sorting out the brakes, as they have Giant drums on them which if you're using stock or even JDM AE86 front brakes these drums will put the front rear bias way out.
and you don't want to brake into a corner and lock up the rear wheels unless that was your aim!
