Diff Jigs

Hi guys

Im about to build a diff jig for a RN25 G series hilux diff to fit into ra28

I have had a good look around google and toymods for a few idea's but only really found one good example of a diff jig.

I understand the basics of it all.
I was hoping to come across a few photo's of other peoples diff jigs they have made or used in the past. So i can get some idea's for mine.
Once its made, if anyone wants to borrow it they can feel welcome.....

So, anyone for diff jig photo's? No matter whats it for? Any fabricators out there e.g. Linden that has any piccies of their diff jig?

From my MA46/47 into ae86 swap.

Building. Lateral rod locater is bolt on so diff can be pulled straight off jig, there are holes drilled in the center 2x2" that use the studs of the axle housing to center it in the jig. Also 2x2" square steel tube works great for fitting the upper control arms, a quick grind of each side puts it at the perfect 50mm for a slip fit. We used 3/8" plate on the bottom because the mounts are angled and if I used 2x2" there, it would have been a nightmare to remove from the jig without cutting it or making it unbolt somehow (more work, material, and not worth it imo).

Tacking mounts. The 1" wide x 1/8" pieces of plate have a corner that lines up with the center of the spring seats to locate them easily, plus a quick clamp holds them in the proper place for welding.

So that is channel the diff id sitting on? What width is that?

The 'base' is 6" wide, I can't remember the height for sure (2" tall possibly). It was scrap at my buddy's work.

The diff is spaced up on the 2x2" channel as that puts the 'front' of the spring seats 'flush' with the 'base'. So all thats left to do is slide it left/right and put the center inline with the corners of those 2 1/8" pointers put onto the jig for centering, and weld them on.

Also IF you noticed in the first pic you'll see that the gt-s 6.7" diff has a small piece of 1/8" thick steel spacing it up off the 2x2" That's because the width of the center section/'bolt face' is about 1/4" smaller than the F-series. So we took that into account building the jig.

Between myself and my friend we did our best to make this as simple a jig as possible while making it work well.

i think the best way to make a universal jig is to use 2 large cones which locate into the axle tube. have them on threaded bolts so essentially you can use them for any diff since they all have round axle tubes.

have a search for my thread which i made on the old forum. something along the lines of 'corona mkII diff jig'
